On July 20, 2023, in Tak City, a truck driver was involved in a tragic accident after reportedly running a red light and colliding with a pickup truck covertly transporting foreign laborers.

The devastating impact resulted in the death of 5 individuals, including 16-year-old Saran Sae Watthanakul from Chiang Thong district, Tak. A total of 12 individuals were injured, reported Thai Rath.

The truck driver, 26-year-old Jaturong Ploy Pradap, sustained minor injuries. Preliminary investigations led the authorities to charge Jaturong with reckless driving resulting in death and injury. Ongoing investigations may lead to additional accusations.

The event has highlighted the challenges with unauthorized movement of overseas labor and emphasized regional road safety concerns.

5 people killed and hardly a mention anywhere.....

Dirricult to see how the pickup could be 'covertly' transporting passengers with so many packed standing in the cargo tray.

Trafficking is not to be widely advertised?

Because people dying on the roads is a common and daily occurrence in Thailand, and the victims, it seems, were poor immigrant workers so no-one cares. If something like that happened in my native UK then it would be a lead story for days.

The problem in this case is Thai road safety period

oh yeah, if the illegals were not on the road, then the Thai can freely drive through red lights and stop signs no problem - damn foreigners
