Social Media
The Ukraine Grain Deal. 22 July 2022 - 17 July 2023. A short life, with its flaws, but the only diplomatic light in the darkness of Russia's invasion. It had allowed Ukraine to export its grain to the world through the Black Sea. A third less than normal, but still 33 million tonnes. However, in recent months, its health had deteriorated. Russia was accused of slowing the route with naval blockades and long inspections, and the deal finally succumbed. Last week saw Moscow's official withdrawal. Russia then launched a wave of missile strikes on ports it once promised to leave alone. EXPLAINED: What was the Ukraine grain deal? One site destroyed was a grain terminal owned by one of Ukraine's biggest producers, Kernel. Officials say more than 60,000 tonnes of grain has been destroyed in the past week. "We stopped our exports for the first two to three months of the war," explains Yevhen Osypov, Kernel's CEO. FULL STORY
Popular Post Tug
It would be nice if Ukraine could just drop a few spans on Putin’s loot bridge preferably across the deep water channel and bottle up those Russian pirates then ship their grain overland 1 1
Popular Post rudi49jr
Ah Russia, the kings of hypocrisy and pettiness. Trying to beat up an opponent and when the opponent hits back they run crying for the mommy. Russia has been committing countless war crimes, raping and torturing innocent people, abducting tens of thousands (hundreds of thousandsj of children, firing missiles willy-nilly at civilian targets, killing thousands of innocent civilians, and then when Ukraine strikes back they call that ‘terrorist attacks’. Despicable. All the more reason for the west to keep supporting Ukraine and give them the weapons they need (F-16’s!!!!) to kick the orcs back to where they belong. 1 1 5

So sad because many who are fed by this grain live in poor and near starvation limit nations in Africa, and the impact of little to no grain will bring starvation to millions there. I don't know the answer to this but I do wonder if the world were to completely cut the entire Russian nation and ALL its citizens off from the world (ala Apartheid bans of the 70's) e.g. no visa's, allow no transit travel to other nations who don't, no financial contact, no trade, expel embassies. Expel Russia from the permanent membership on the UN Security Council for sure. Lord knows that in our world many nations have perpetrated colonial imperialistic abuses throughout history and the most obscene being in modern history so all western nations for sure have blood on their hands. This latest atrocity is just another shameful episode in mans inhumanity to man. I agree that every weapon needed must be given NOW. Sadly Putin will not stop unless he is stopped. This is, it seems one of the sad realities of madmen with power roaming, enabled by sycophants and a fearful, and or brainwashed populace. I decry the use of cluster bombs as I have seen the maiming first hand they randomly distribute. I can't help but wonder why a number of foreign fighting brigades can't be formed of ex-servicemen and women. Independent of any nation, funded by some of these well known trillionaire/billionaires. Forces similar to the anti-fascist fighters who fought alongside the Spanish against Franco. These troops and airmen have direct experience flying F16's and operating the armoury that could be brought to bear faster through their hands. 3

Purdey
If I remember correctly, Britain also embargoed Germany in WWII. The U.S. has called them sanctions ever since. Just surprised the Russians hadn't done this earlier.
