Thailand eyes record 2 million Russian tourists despite geopolitical tensions

Just looking a youtube report about Bali.
They are fed-up with the Russians.
Whole buildings being build for them. They don't care about the locals. They scream around, no respect for the local culture. Taking nude pictures, working illegal etc.

Bali is starting to send them back because of working illegal, nude pics and behaving like they were still in Ruskylandia.
Everyday more ruskies arrive and many with a one-way ticket.

On this report, you just see the young ones. Where do they have the money from, what visa do they get?

A 17 year old travelled to Bali and stayed.
How on earth is that possible.

Thailand, do you want to go that way as well?

  • Tourists my aching butt. Olympic-grade euphemism. They are refugees - the wealthier ones. Not many Russians of military age want to be thrown into the meat grinder of Ukraine, presumably they are

I have to wonder how many of those overstayed their visa?

I am wondering whether there will be an increase in crime statistics.

Good to see Thailand act independently and avoid following the USA/Uk regimes propagandized  russiaphobic mob.

I was wondering when a Putin apologist would surface.

Murdering civilians with missiles and drones would make most people Russiaphobic.

Now that Putin has also weaponized food ( grain exports ) it will be interesting to see how the hungry react.

Considering that the Russian people don't have many choices of travel ????

Those travelling must have access to their bank accounts outside Russia as the Russian currency is not  worthy lot

Still plenty of affluent people still in Russia

Like us Aussies did in Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam etc etc

i didnt see you complaining then.

I think most Thais would much rather have big spending russian familes here than the sex tourists.

Are they referring to draft dodgers, or do the really mean tourists?

A relatively large portion, it seems, are criminal gangs, human traffickers, and people flouting Thailand's work laws.

Was just seeing a report that Russians in Bali are moving their money through crypto in Bali.

For once I hope that the Baht gets even stronger.

Pardon, "neutral position on the Russia-Ukraine conflict"

Thailand neutral in the conflict?

How about Lavrov who was here last week?

Neutral?

all it will do is to push up the cost rental property again, local restaurants wont be complaining

They are not tourists they are escaping being drafted to fight a war in Ukraine which they will never win . It would be interesting to see how many are overstaying there visa’s I bet it’s a good 60% and there are those who are working with no work permits but immigration turns a blind eye after all Thailand cannot afford to upset Russias best friends the Chinese Regime as they need the engines for those useless submarines they purchased even thought the waters in the Kingdom are not deep enough they will spend most of the time above water moored up !

Those that think it's just draft dodgers can't have been to Karon or Kata in Phuket, where Russian tourists are by far the biggest in number. Typical two week holidaymakers, alongside a suspicious few that extend their visas again and again????

No they move around to Samui ,Koh Phangan , Koh Tao the island are full of them I had a run in with one of them a few weeks ago they have zero respect for other peoples property

Neutral???????????? There’s no such thing in war. What this says to me is a nation that’s all pride and no shame.

Plenty here in Phuket, especially around Rawai there is a whole community of them, it;s like little Moscow

Seeing as Putin just raised the age for military conspirationto 30 years of age, we should see a lot more draft doggers.

That's a good point. I wonder how he feels about Thailand provide aid and comfort to the draft doggers.

Love the outfit the guy is wearing.. Looks like something you would be issued in prison.

Good for all as long as thai authorities accept the ROUBLES.

Otherwise complicated.

Only because certain nationalities, who in the past were in the majority, and are now biased against newcomers because they do not act as certain nationalities want them to behave.

Its called racism.

Thailand should be able to garner a few more Russians easily now that Putin has put up the Conscription age from 27 to 30

Not seeing any significant war impact, more a case like other European countries of normal service resumed after Thailand fully reopens.  The level and pattern of arrivals this year is pretty much the same as 2019 - average daily arrivals 2019 - 4,060 vs 2023 ( to June ) - 4,373

Jan - 202,759

Feb - 186,103

Mar - 177,805

Apr - 115,706

May - 58,467

Jun - 50,734

Thailand doesn't recognize them in that way so no problem. Ignorance is bliss.

I tend to agree.

Neutral towards Russia leans towards pro Russia in effect.

A sad but perfect example of an uniformed propagandized  Russiaphobic viewpoint in this quote.

All he said were actually FACTS.
