The powers that be are now going to find a way to completely hamstring Move Foreward and get them banned. The timing will probably be to collate as many trivial cases as they can against MF then just before the next election launch several at once to put MF on the rocks with no time to jump ship and avoid the wreck. 

MFP should start preparations to dissolve their party and form a new one if it even looks like that happening.

They have already had to do it once, so a second time should be easier.

Then just keep telling the electorate to "remember all the dirty tricks" when they vote next time.

 

Pita needs to get his so called "problems" sorted by the courts one way or the other. A final decision made.

If he can't go forward as squeaky clean, sadly he might have to stop aside for someone else.

You really think rewriting the constitution is that simple? Could take years just to draw it up, followed by years of debate in parliament, followed by a vote. But they could call an election next May after which the Senate will no longer have a say in the PM selection. But if they already have their man as PM why the heck would they do that? PT won't lift a finger to change the status quo once in power. Of that you can rest assured. Probably abandon all their reform agenda, and simply do what their militarist buddies tell them to. They've already shown themselves to be completely spineless.

Agree with you that rewriting the constitution is an uphill task, not simply and time consuming. What the people and political parties want are fair electoral rule, an impartial and reliable judiciary, watchdogs agencies to be re-appointed, elected senators and it can be done (not easy too) with amendments rather than re-writing the whole constitution. It is also the interest of PT if they form the government to amend these undemocratic constitution sections. Will help placate the MFP supporters. 

The military, and their backers, have set this whole thing up, and Thaksin has walked right into their trap.  If he was truly committed to democracy, and really wanted to make a change, he would have stuck with the MFP, no matter what.  Even if it did mean forming a majority opposition and not having control of the PM position.  But no.  They played him like a spineless fish, knowing it's in the nature of the scorpion to sting, even if it kills him (to mix my parables).  Now he's opened up a chasm between the two biggest "democratic" parties, and the squabbling, and no doubt further protesting and burning of effigies - just wait till the red shirts wade in on his side, will be used as an excuse by the military to seize control of the country once again to "calm things down".  Smart?  Pah!  His thinking is done by his ego and narcissism.  But hey, at least he's in the limelight again.  That'll cheer him up.

PT is a danger to itself and everybody around. A weak majority party is just going to get pushed around by the stronger minority players. And their weakness is there for all to see. They buckled under the first sign of pressure. Now they're just a rudderless hulk. The strong coalition got broken apart by the Senate. Divide and rule. It's almost worked. At least MFP have come out if it probably stronger, and honourably. Maybe the more decent PT MPs will defect en masse as they should, to MFP.

(2/2) Chaitawat said MFP will resubmit motion to remove junta-appointed senate's power to vote for PM when parliament reconvene, adding next bicameral vote for PM can take place without waiting for the Charter Court's ruling or whether rejection renomination is constitutional.
