At around 11:00 AM on August 10, Police Lieutenant Nattanont Prayoorngsang, Deputy Superintendent of the Makkasan Police Station, received a report of a car engulfed in flames.

 

The incident occurred across from Piyawet Hospital on Rama 9 Road's outbound side, Bangkapi District, Huai Khwang, Bangkok. The police promptly coordinated with firefighters from the Bangkapi Fire and Rescue Station to extinguish the fire, reported Siam Rath.

A tour bus caught fire on the Sirat Expressway, north of the Bang Sue Central Station, causing heavy traffic congestion. Meanwhile, a Benz silver sedan, registered in Bangkok, also burst into flames. Explosions were heard amidst the blaze. Firefighters managed to control the fire within 15 minutes.

 

Lieutenant Nattanont stated that preliminary investigations revealed the Benz sedan was running on both gasoline and LPG systems. The driver (name withheld) was traveling along Rama 9 Road's outbound lane towards the Motorway to Chonburi.

Upon smelling smoke, the driver pulled over before the vehicle was consumed by flames. Initial assessment suggests a possible gas system malfunction leading to the fire outbreak.
