Georgia prosecutors could charge Trump with racketeering, experts say

Donald Trump is already facing 78 criminal charges across three cases - but this week in Georgia, he could be hit with one he has never seen before: racketeering.

Local prosecutors in Fulton County have been investigating the efforts to overturn Mr Trump's defeat in the closely-contested state in the 2020 election.

US media reports suggest the district attorney's office could be pursuing racketeering charges that implicate several people in a sprawling election subversion conspiracy, with Mr Trump as the alleged ringleader.

If it does, it would be indicting a former American president on charges once used to convict mob bosses like John Gotti and Vincent Gigante.

Organised criminal activity in the US is routinely prosecuted under the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (Rico) Act.

Rico laws help prosecutors connect the dots between underlings who broke laws and those who gave them marching orders.

More than 30 US states have implemented their own versions of the federal government's Rico Act and Georgia's adaptation is broader in scope than most.

Considering how many courts he's seen, racketeering would seem to be an appropriate charge.  Let's hope he gets the grand slam.

Not being American it is amusing and many find UK situation a joke.

You say he should get the slam so are you a minority.

One reporter today congratulated trump on the "triple crown of indictments" and soon he would be in the "final four" with perhaps more yet to come...

and keep in mind that every one of the indictments and charges is from a dem witch hunt even though those testifying are almost exclusively trumpers....as we all know trump has done nothing wrong and all his actions and statements have been perfect....because he handed out the kool aide and told everyone that...and many of them incredibly still hang on his every lie and conspiracy and try to defend the indefensible....he is for sure the best con man perhaps ever.

and no such thing as a presidental or even state governor pardon in georgia..

GA law says only by pardon board and ONLY 5 years after sentence has been served...that explains why trump is rightly scared to death of GA....while some sympathetic repub president could maybe pardon him of a ton of stuff he is out of luck in Georgia...so look for him to ratchet up the violeance threats against georgia jurors etc  or maybe even posting huge rewards for any juror who votes to acquit him...desperate people do desperate things and we all know trump will try anything his tiny little mind can think up....

Somehow i don't think donnie boy would much like those GA jail cells.  Grits anyone?

Trump has a reasonable chance to get off on these charges due to a hung jury. Its the NYC and DC juries that are the risks for him.

But, don't celebrate too much for today's news, this is just the beginning.

It sounds so much better when you hear him say it...

There is a legal process to challenge the results of an election, but Trump is indicted for extra-legal activities.

The tipoff is that Trump did not do the grunt work of examining the numbers at the precinct level. Or maybe his consultants did, but concluded that there was no fraud. Every vote comes from somewhere, so following the votes would reveal fraud. In this case, there was no significant fraud in Georgia.

Rudy has already admitted telling lies about the Georgia election. I suspect there will be further admissions by defendants who flip.

"Defendant Donald John Trump lost the United States presidential election held on November 3, 2020. One of the states he lost was Georgia," the indictment reads. "Trump and the other Defendants charged in this Indictment refused to accept that Trump lost, and they knowingly and willfully joined conspiracy to unlawfully change the outcome of the election in favor of Trump. That conspiracy contained common plan and purpose to commit two or more acts of racketeering activity in Fulton County, Georgia, elsewhere in the State of Georgia, and in other states."

Trevian Kutti is an interesting character in this rogues gallery:

https://edition.cnn.com/2022/06/14/politics/georgia-grand-jury-trevian-kutti/index.html

Allegedly, she threatened a Georgia election worker with arrest, if the election worker didn't provide a false confession of voter fraud. Interestingly, she is a minion of Kanye West, and could implicate Mr. West if she flips. Because somebody had to order Ms. Kutti to threaten the election worker.

I am having trouble keeping up...so what about michigan, arizona, nevada, etc ...can donnie set a new all time world record for most indictments supported by exclusively republicans testimony against him?  You know that giant Dem witch hunt?

Come on donnie....you know u love to brag so get out there and send out emails asking for money to celebrate for your setting HUGE records...u know your MAGA's will open their piggybanks up and forget how many times you have bragged about how you are really really rich and would never need or ask for anybody's money...stash away that extra cash so you can have big macs delivered directly to your cell.

No one here seems to like Trump so an answered to why Trump is so popular.

He cannot get a pardon from a friendly POTUS, even if an (R) gets elected. This is a State indictment, not Federal. President has no authority to pardon for State convictions.

I suspect trump will be heavily campaigning for an (R) Governor of Georgia in 2024. Of course the 'Billionaire Beggar' will grift off of his goobers to pay for campaign contributions, as well as legal fees.

The sentence for each count is 5 years minimum, so if convicted, his golf-playing days are over.

First rant guess: he will include both 'witch hunt' and 'Fani dating gang members' (funny coming from a guy who schtupped a Porn Star)

The Devil Went Down In Georgia.

If trump is convicted in multiple jurisdictions, maybe he can be drawn and quartered, with parts serving time in GA, NY, DC and Leavenworth.

One or more of which now have very good cause to sing like a canary.
