Trat Province: Despite the low season, the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) continues to witness tourists traveling to explore the popular attractions of Koh Kood and Koh Mak.

Between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM on August 20, 2566, at the Laem Sok Pier in Muang District, Trat Province, over 500 tourists per day arrived on ferries operated by 4 companies, journeying to these two islands. This influx includes international travelers, primarily from Europe, reported Siam Rath.

Nisit Phakhom, an official from the Trat Port Authority, indicated that despite the current monsoon season and rough seas, the steady flow of tourists persisted. The authority has cautioned visitors and operators about the strong waves, urging them to ensure vessel readiness.

Detchathorn Chanob, Mayor of Koh Kood, praised the natural beauty and consistent tourist inflow, attributing the increase to tourists opting for Koh Kood over the more inconvenient Koh Chang due to ferry wait times. Despite approximately 40% of hotels and resorts being temporarily closed, Koh Kood's affordable accommodations and attractions remain alluring.

Nolan Suwatjananan, Mayor of Koh Mak, stated that the local administration strives to promote tourism during the upcoming rainy and green seasons. Initiatives like the "Sexy Run Koh Mak 2023" attracted around 500 participants, generating substantial income for the community.

I love Koh Kood(Kut) either way. It’s quite and beautiful. Hopefully this doesn’t change too much. The only issue I have is getting around on a motorbike. Other than that expect to enjoy a peaceful time touring the waterfalls , beautiful waters and huge trees. I always enjoy a break from the world when I go there. Hopefully you will too, but I guess that depends on how many people are now going there.

So it's up to the tourists to arrive in plenty of time to enable them to do a risk assessment and safety check of the mode of ferry transport? FFS!!!

"Oi El Capitane, do you have enough life jackets for XYZ passengers onboard and are lifeboats fully operational? May we witness the ship's crew undertake a lifeboat drill before sailing"?
