Impulse, several of those are real problems and I have never denied that. But you are collecting every serious incident across an entire continent and presenting the collection as proof that Europe is being overrun. Even your IRA example is questionable. The New IRA is active again, which is serious enough by itself, but the claim that it has reconstituted specifically to go after migrants does not seem to have solid evidence behind it. Europe has problems and needs to deal with them. That is still very different from Europe being in collapse or Trump somehow having saved America from Europe’s fate. And yes, respect to Poland for standing up to EU pressure. I also hope Norway does not fully integrate into the EU. Personally, I think Norway should have taken a firmer grip on immigration much earlier, more like some Arab countries and Thailand, with clearer limits, stricter conditions and better control over who is allowed to stay on a permanent basis. The funny thing is that Polish people themselves used to be talked about as a problem in Norway, often connected to crime and cheap labour, and even the word “Polakk” was used as an insult. Today they are one of the most established immigrant groups in the country. That should at least remind us that how people talk about one group at one point in time is not always how history ends up seeing them.
