A biographer of President Biden said that while it would be a surprise, it “wouldn’t be a total shock” if the president drops out of the 2024 race by the end of the calendar year.

NBC’s Chuck Todd on “Meet the Press” asked biographer Franklin Foer, whose book about Biden’s first two years in office will be released this week, how surprised he would be if Biden decided to not pursue a second term in office.

“I would say it would, it would be a surprise to me. But it wouldn’t be a total surprise,” Foer said, adding that “it wouldn’t be a total shock.”

“When he talks about his life, he uses this word, fate, constantly,” he said. “Joe Biden is a very religious guy, and fate is a word loaded with religious meaning. And he always talks about, ‘He can’t say where fate goes.’ And so I always, when I hear that, to me, it’s the ellipses in the sentence when he’s talking about his own future.”

Biden announced his reelection campaign earlier this year and has not signaled that he was considering dropping out of the race. The 80-year-old has faced questions from inside and outside his party about concerns regarding his age as the 2024 election approaches.

 

Foer said his book, titled “The Last Politician,” describes how Biden was “underestimated” and how he used that to his advantage. He also said it delves into Biden’s career in policymaking and what techniques he uses to get things done.

“It doesn’t take Bob Woodward to understand that Joe Biden is old, and I’m not a gerontologist and I can’t predict how the next couple of years will age Joe Biden,” he said. “I think what my book does is shows that he is somebody who, for whom — he’s buried in details. He’s somebody who is very technocratic, really obsessed with the intricacies of policy. He’s a very activist president in that he micromanages a lot of the dealings in the White House”

It’s not the relatively minor wealth of politicians that is distorting US politics, it’s the open door given to the hyper wealthy to buy control over policies.

The point to consider is who will be the Republican candidate if the GOP ever regains its sanity.

 

The Democrats will then field a candidate to challenge the Republican offering,

 

Of course the GOP regaining sanity before candidate selection is a bit of a stretch.

OR....maybe there will be a conversation with Kamala to suggest she announces for personal reasons she has decided to go back to CA and take Feinstein place in Senate which would open the door for Biden to name a different more popular young VP....if he does not look for every repub ad to say a vote for biden is a vote for kamala as biden may not finish term 2....biden would not openly throw kamala under the bus but there has to be some concern about her being a target to use against biden second term...  Seems that most polls would indicate that there is some concern if Kamala would be ready/acceptable as potus if needed.

She would certainly be better than trump the majority of women would be delighted and don’t forget she has experience in the upper levels of government that beeing said it’s so critical if trump is the nominee that he is defeated again anything that could help in that endeavor is ok by me

My guess....and only a guess...is that trump will NOT be the repub nominee as the full weight of his alleged crimes comes crashing down and repubs finally figure out he is a LOSER....I would also guess that a lot of dems hope trump IS the nominee as he will once again be a LOSER and Biden will win in a landslide.

   

IF it is not trump and ended up somebody like nikki haley she could be a formidable opponent as she is already attacking the age issue and she could likely draw a substantial number of women....of course haley may be a bit too sane for the cult but sooner or later even the cult may finally admit  that the emperor has no clothes.

In my humble opinion I think the republicans know full well he’s a loser the problem is their voters they quiver in terror at the thought of Trump saying something bad they have the tiger by the tail and can’t let go or they will end up in his belly

The right wing coconut telegraph is forecasting that, once the impeachment starts, he'll have an off-camera health "incident" and Dr. Jill will announce that he cannot continue as president.  That will negate the need for the impeachment, and Kackling Kamala will pardon both Joe and Hunter in a pre-arranged deal, because it's "better for the country to move on".

Impeachment?  Republicans will first have to figure out what they're impeaching Joe Biden for.  It will have to be a charge that doesn't require evidence as they clearly don't have any.

That's exactly the problem. When the whistle blowers come out against Trump the DOJ moves swiftly to get evidence, as they should.

But when the snitches expose Biden it's totally covered-up. 

I don't like either Trump or Biden, but the DOJ is very corrupt. And don't say "where's the evidence" Because the people in charge of the evidence, are the ones who are corrupt, so how could there be?

There were many snitches testifying before congress the last few months, but unless the DOJ investigates their allegations nothing will ever happen.

the doj does not investigate allegations...that is the special counsel...same guy that has been investigation for 3 + years and had full authority to bring charges but did not... PS : hunter biden is not president and has never worked in the white house unlike jared kushner who took billions from saudis for ???...i guess the saudis just sort of took a liking to a nice jewish boy and fact that father in law played no part?...so why no jared investigation?

The DOJ controls the FBI which of course investigates allegations.

Or are you referring to Hunter's project of creating a JV with a Chinese company? That's not illegal. Thousands of businesses have JVs with Chinese firms.

 

About the laptop/NYPost issue, blame Giuliani for giving the laptop content to the biased NYPost only, and not to the media. And also for giving the information one year after possessing it so that no convincing in-depth analysis could be made. And also for not providing the meta-data to authentify the information.

Biden is a better health risk than Trump even though Trump is a tad bit older.
