Christie says latest Trump attack makes him ‘really concerned for his mental health’

GOP presidential candidate Chris Christie said former President Trump’s latest attack makes him “really concerned for his mental health.”

“When he says stuff like that about somebody who supported him in 2016, prepared him for the debates with Hillary Clinton, supported him in 2020 and prepared him for the debates with Joe Biden — if I was so useless and dumb and deranged, how did all that stuff happen?” Christie said late Wednesday on Newsmax’s “The Balance” with host Eric Bolling.

“It’s sad. He’s under a lot of stress and a lot of pressure, and saying these things makes me really concerned for his mental health,” Christie added.

Christie was responding to a handful of attacks Trump dished out during a radio interview on the “Hugh Hewitt Show” early Wednesday. Trump called Christie a “crazed lunatic” and took shots at him over his time as New Jersey governor.

“I couldn’t care less. I think he’s not a very smart person,” Trump said when asked about whether he is “afraid” Christie will come after him. “I think he’s a very disturbed person. He and maybe deranged Jack Smith should get together for dinner.”

Christie also said Trump did not think he was unqualified when he asked him to be a part of his administration numerous times.

“I feel bad for Donald. I really do. You know, he’s on there saying that I’m not very smart, that I’m very deranged,” he said.

  • I'm much more worried about "republicans" who still seem insanely intent on nominating the world's greatest grifter and the horror they will inflect on the USA if they succeed in getting him into powe

Christie is another one, I could be coming home drenched and if he said that it was raining I wouldn't believe him.  I don't see how people in places like Texas or the Dakotas would choose him for president.

But he could easily take Ohio and Nevada

I'll agree with that, considering;

... Trump got elected at all

... Clinton got more popular vote

... Bush & Obama got reelected

... Biden got elected

Hard to believe those even happened.

The GOP has been pushing this "what good is an education?" stance for a while now, Santorum (remember him?) used it as a stick to beat Obama with in 2014.  I think this was their goal: keep people stupid.  My guess is Rove or Gingrich came up with this.

The mental health of the cult leader is certainly in question.  The mental health of the followers needs to be considered apart from any concern for the leader.

Most of the govt school education (high school 1-12) was basically useless in everyday life, with exception of math & science/chemistry/physics.  Certainly didn't need 3 different languages, English lit, art or history, as anything else was an elective.  So basically 6 classes a day, only 2 useful, and repetitively redundant the first 8 yrs.

My public school education included Latin and French double lesson every day for 3 years. English literature was one unit all 5 years of high school.  Social Studies was another unit for those first 3 years. Thereafter I studied ancient history, math, biology and physics. None of that was wasted in the slightest. I topped the school in Latin. Can't remember much now but I speak English bigly.

A no vote for education.

Trying not to get off topic too much, but thought I would mention that at my Grammar school I came near top of the class in English and French, and surprisingly did well in Latin, even though I hated the language and could ever see the reason for it.

Quite how much of an education was inwardly digested by trump, who knows, but his current level would suggest that at least he got to the grade of a 12-year-old.

5 yrs of French

2 yrs of Latin

2 yrs of Spanish ... actually was fluent

though forgot most

The sciences come in handy, and of course math, though with calculators today, most don't use in their head, or even know the equations.

History, actually enjoyed, and like knowing, but useless.

Reading & writing, obviously needed.

Art & Music, nice to know, but useless.

Social Science & POD (Problems of Democracy), interesting, and great to know, but useless, and apparently, nobody pays attention, IF, still taught, which I doubt, as seems most Yanks, don't even know how the govt works.

Actually think they directly elect the President.  Or understand Congress (House/Senate) & SCOTUS.

Damn embarrassing actually.

Wasted time & effect, if you don't have a snowball's chance in hell. He certainly can't run on his record.

I'm waiting on biden to drop out, and harris to be their candidate.  Even saw an op-ed that implied if running against harris, (in primary) if it happened, would be considered racist ????

He's young enough to run next time. I don't think any candidate plans on winning this time unless Trump's right wing popularity collapses. Christie is trying to accelerate that process. Or at least he wants to be the guy that says "I told you so first".

Interesting take KhunLA.

I believe Kierkegaard, Socrates, Plato, Camus ... just to name a few spoke of how the humanities and arts in all their forms were the noblest and most sociologically cohesive of all study ands learning.

Absolutely.

Sidney Powell clearly is insane, but that doesn't stop people here from believing her claims that the 2020 election was stolen.

Its kind of scary.

It's not a sure thing that Harris would get the nomination. There are better candidates out there.

I've questioned his mental capabilities for 3+ decades, but whose counting. This "person" is eat up with a dumbass, a total fraud, dangerous and a menace to society. He should be barred from ever holding government office again and should be detained while awaiting all his felony trials.

Me thinks as I read the reporting of how tarred they all are. Poor trough feeding 'pollies' lol ????

It has been said and it appears from chronological evidences that the GOP is no more.

Rather it is now a party of sedition, treason in some considerable numbered quarters, anti-democratic principles of even in any of its mildest of forms.

There is the larger and oh-so painfully, cringe-worthily obvious demography in the US concepts and executions of 'democracy'??? It being antithetic to any form of a just democratic stewardship and governance to any educated (non-brainwashed, critical thinking, adolescent or adult).

Christie is just another of the multigenerational zeitgeist's of citizen hostage to the fantasy and false-narrative the USA is a democracy of any credible sort.

To claim a nation is a democracy yet not count each vote as unilaterally equal in value i.e. The Electoral College System, is as one of the fundamental bedrocks of that societies political system, wrought asunder in its hypocrisy, idiocy, and open contempt for the rights of all that nations citizens.

I'm waiting for her to be taken to task for that phone call telling the Pentagon they need to invade Germany, or whatever that was.

Is this what he really said? Most Americans say "I could care less."

Funny, yet another anti-Trump story on biased a left wing media platform that fails to even mention what Biden's own what left wing media CNN are now reporting about Biden - the people (Dems) basically think Biden is NOT FIT to be president again or doing an awful job !

From left wing CNN own pages  :

Asked directly about the potential effects of his age, majorities of Democratic-aligned voters say they are seriously concerned that Biden’s age might negatively affect his current level of physical and mental competence (56%), his ability to win the 2024 general election if nominated (60%), and his ability to serve another full term as president if reelected (61%).

But in a break from older partisans, substantial majorities also say that Biden does not inspire confidence (63%), does not have the stamina and sharpness to serve effectively (64%), and that his policies have failed to improve the economy (64%).
