Bangkok Taxi Driver Allegedly Threatened by a Pattaya Taxi Driver

Pattaya – A Bangkok taxi driver filed a report to Pattaya police after he allegedly was being threatened by a Pattaya taxi driver.

 

After midnight on Thursday (September 28th). Mr. Chanai Waisuwan, 46, a Bangkok taxi driver filed a report to Colonel Puttharak Sornkamharn of the Pattaya City Police. He told police he had picked up a passenger from the Suvarnabhumi Airport and dropped his customer off at a hotel in the Pattaya area.

 

When he was heading back to Bangkok, he was driving slowly due to a traffic jam on the Pattaya Beach Road. At that point, an unidentified man opened the taxi’s door and said rude words to Mr. Chanai. The man allegedly said to Mr. Chanai ‘You cannot earn money here’. The man then hit the taxi window and further threatened Mr. Chanai. Mr. Chanai recorded the incident and captured photos of the man.

He was looking for a return fare, they usually are.

Times past they used the mafia who had little kiosks dotted around who screwed them.... passengers always ended up in arguments about who pays tolls and they should cough up more.

How much do the taxi mafia kiosks get out of the booked fare? Say the customer agrees on a 1k baht fare to go back to BKK. How much does the driver get and how much goes to the taxi mafia kiosk?

I really don't know these days, many years ago a 500 baht fare to the airport was possible, and I think the taxi only got a few hundred. I had an awful ride once where the driver griped all the way, driving dangerously and fast, refusing toll roads.....I stopped using them, paying more.
