Democrat demands probe into Thaksin’s hospital stay amid preferential treatment claims

Watchara Phetthong, a veteran Democrat and former Member of Parliament, urged the House panel overseeing police affairs to investigate the circumstances surrounding the hospitalisation of the ex-prime minister, 74 years old Thaksin Shinawatra.

Accusations of preferential treatment have been fuelled by an undisclosed photograph of Thaksin seen enjoying pool time with his grandchild.

At a press conference to highlight his demand, Phetthong presented the contentious photograph. Thaksin was admitted to Police General Hospital on the night of August 22, barely 13 hours after his incarceration, and has remained there since. Both the Royal Thai Police and the Corrections Department have refuted claims of Thaksin receiving any special privileges.

Phetthong said the focus of the inquiry should be on the criteria that Thaksin met to qualify for medical attention at Police General Hospital.

So Thaksin's lawyers will sue.

I think he has enough on his plate staying out of the can! ????

I don't know if he will try to sue, maybe they are trying to lure him out of bed, which will question the validity of him being in hospital.

Yes, luring him out of bed will certainly prove he's faking it. Where do you get this stuff?

DO you really think people will think he is ill if he appear in court?

So trick him into suing the democrat, then unmask him as an impostor when he appears in court? A cunning plan indeed. Baldrick, you're a genius.

In Thailand rich people sue without ever appearing in court. All done through their lawyer. Thaksin did it all the time, both when he was in power and when he was on the run.

It's  been said already both in the Thai media and BP that the photo in the OP is from Thaksin's daughter's social media account two years ago.

Plus the headline is incorrect- a former Democrat MP

SO why are they posting a photo taken from before and passing it off as being from the hospital then? Someone is up to something.

Pro-Reform Students Rally to Question Thaksin's Hospital Stay

image.jpeg

The Network of Students and People for Reform of Thailand organized a peaceful demonstration at the Central World shopping complex, opposite the Police General Hospital.

The event, led by Pichit Chaiyamongkol, featured a mock prison cell representing former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, emphasizing that he should be in jail, not the hospital.

Pichit and his fellow demonstrators were expressing their concerns for the third time, questioning the legitimacy of Thaksin’s illness that has kept him in the hospital for 48 days since his return to Thailand, reported INN.

Thaksin had publicly stated his willingness to face justice and serve time in prison, yet he was transferred to the hospital shortly after his detention, citing health concerns backed by international medical certificates.

The NSPRT's demonstration aimed to highlight what they believe is a manipulation of the justice system. With Thaksin's 60-day hospital stay nearing completion and only 12 days remaining, questions arise about potential new reasons that might be presented to keep the former leader out of prison.

The demonstration was conducted peacefully with officers from the Metropolitan Police Division 6 overseeing the event to ensure safety and order. The NSPRT remains determined to see that justice is served without prejudice, shedding light on a case that continues to draw national attention.

How OUTRAGEOUS to question his medical situation. 6 weeks in Hospital, so far...... this must be so so serious...the grand kids are gathering in the Pool to comfort their terminal Grandad.. "The minute we are born, we are on the road to death" (might take 90 years or so)

You might be right. Any witch that I have ever seen (most around Halloween time), usually have pitch black hair.

Photo with Thaksin in pool has been taken some time ago , before prison .

But he gets special VIP treatment in hospital , the government should imply the law instead of showing the world how corrupt it is ...

At least someone is questioning his lengthy stay in the hospital and, hopefully, that will include looking into his accommodations there.

He he, if only it were true. They would probably burn the hospital down.

Yeah but I get the feeling that for many they just want to get him, they aren't so interested in the apparent injustice in play as such, they just don't like him and want to ruin him, that's what it's really about for many I think.

I don't think this is any way to be talking about the future PM ????

Even the regular anti Mr T posters have resisted commenting on this 2 year old photo.

The clear intent in publishing this pic is to whip up hatred among the ding a lings.

The Democrats are questioning the army. This one is going to go far. LOL. Don't they know the army is above the law?

Hey

Come on guys.

It's just hydrotherapy to aid in his recovery from the mystery surgery.

Public probably will not believe all these statements by govt. Officials. In public eyes he did good things for Thailand in the past and now he's a good man again when the 10.000 Baht donation will come....securing him or his daughter next Prime Minister's seat.❤️
