October 12, 20232 yr Popular Post A MASSIVE PETITION against the Pheu Thai-led government’s 10,000-baht digital wallet project has been submitted to the Office of the Ombudsman. Chief Ombudsman Somsak Suwansujarit confirmed today (Oct.12) the petition was recently filed by the so-called Universities Network for Thailand’s Reform and has already been accepted by his agency which, he said, will not take it into account until the government has publicly unveiled any detailed plans for the implementation of the questionable project. The proponents of the petition including more than 130 Chulalongkorn and Thammasat economists and other university academics concluded that the 10,000-baht digital wallet project would practically violate the constitution and laws pertaining to state treasury and financial disciplinary principles and called on the Office of the Ombudsman to forward it over either to the Constitutional Court or Administrative Court to deliver a ruling on it. I am willing to bet there's not much of a fight A better solution is to use the money to help senior citizens and raise there monthly.

October 13, 20232 yr The point is not whether to give or not give out the cash with state funds. The point is how and who is to finance it ?

No fight, if they scrap this payment the streets will be full of disgruntled 16+ year olds wanting their money. Thais' put up with a lot of sh#t but muck around with their money and look-out

PTP in the thick of it. The problem might be that other coalition parties in the cabinet, that vehemently opposed the digital wallet in the election campaign, might get scared of being investigated by the NAAC for approving the digital wallet, from which they get no political advantage anyway, n a cabinet resolution. PT has less seats than BJP, PPRP and UTN. So a coalition rift over it could cause the coalition to collapse. If so, good riddance to bad rubbish. Never seen such a bunch of crooks and incompetents in a cabinet.
