Popular Post snoop1130
Almost all the Thai people working in the so-called “red zone” in Israel have been evacuated to safety, said Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin today (Friday), quoting the Israeli ambassador to Thailand. The prime minister invited the ambassador, Orna Sagiv, to Government House today to discuss the situation of Thais working in Israel, the evacuation plan for those who want to return home as well as the Thai government’s request to Israel for help in securing the release of Thai nationals being held hostage by Hamas. He said that he asked the ambassador to convey the government’s message, asking Israel to facilitate the evacuation of Thais from Israel, adding that the envoy offered her assurance that the Israeli government is treating the evacuation of people from the danger areas and the provision of psychiatric care to those suffering from trauma as the highest priority. mark131v
Is it dressing up day for the PM? Is he hoping to impress the Israeli Ambassador with Thailand's martial prowess or their abundance of white uniforms? Seriously wtf is he playing at? From the link and I bet that went down well a week after the massacre, subtlety not his strong point I think: 'The prime minister said he reminded the ambassador of Thailand’s neutral stance in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict' 1 2
Popular Post Iron Tongue
So is there an official tally of how many Thais in Israel? I have read numbers from 20,000-30,000 with only 400 a day being evacuated back by Thailand. But do all these Thai agricultural workers want to leave Israel? I think that there won't be any physical intrusions into Israel for a long time, and mushroom farms won't exactly be on top of Hamas' rocket list. 4 1

Reality is the recapture of the hostages by Israel is already a top priority, but he probably didn’t do himself or Thailand any favours by reiterating its neutrality. 1

off road pat
“Why should we cherish “objectivity”, as if ideas were innocent, as if they don’t serve one interest or another? Surely, we want to be objective if that means telling the truth as we see it, not concealing information that may be embarrassing to our point of view. But we don’t want to be objective if it means pretending that ideas don’t play a part in the social struggles of our time, that we don’t take sides in those struggles. Indeed, it is impossible to be neutral. In a world already moving in certain directions, where wealth and power are already distributed in certain ways, neutrality means accepting the way things are now. It is a world of clashing interests – war against peace, nationalism against internationalism, equality against greed, and democracy against elitism – and it seems to me both impossible and undesirable to be neutral in those conflicts.” ― Howard Zinn, Declarations of Independence: Cross-Examining American Ideology
off road pat
“how I despise neutrality, only countries should be neutral since they’re abstract entities, people cannot be neutral, a friend of mine cannot caress my hand and kiss my enemy, laugh when they mock me, this is my true belief, maybe I’m wrong, neutral people are the most dangerous, they sell themselves to the highest bidder, betray us for a plate of lentils” ― João Reis, The Translator's Bride “One of the most important struggles of humanity is to ensure that our ‘fight against hate’ does not become ‘hate’ itself – while knowing that our neutrality in times of oppression is oppression itself.” ― Adeel Ahmed Khan “The world would be a better place to live in if only each individual's thinking and actions were not subject to any political or religious ideologies.” ― Amit Abraham
