Donald Trump has said that a dossier alleging that he engaged in “perverted sexual behaviour” and paid bribes to Russian officials to further his business interests is “false” and “phoney”, and is seeking to sue for damages in London.

 

The former US president indicated that he was willing to give evidence at the high court in his case alleging breach of data protection rights by Orbis Business Intelligence over the 2016 “Steele dossier”. The dossier, investigating Russian efforts to influence the 2016 US presidential campaign, was compiled by the Orbis co-founder Christopher Steele, who previously ran MI6’s Russia desk.

 

Trump was not present for the high court hearing, which will determine whether the case can go to trial. However, in a written witness statement, he said: “The only way that I can fully demonstrate the total inaccuracies of the personal data in the dossier is to bring these proceedings and to prove, by evidence at trial, that the data are false.

Herein lies the problem. There is no evidence either way to support or invalidate the Steele dossier, and when you make loaded remarks based on the premise that it's gospel makes you look like a conspiracy nut at which point no one takes your word for anything. THIS is why the people in a bitterly divided country can't come to any agreement.

Steele was a former MI6 agent who ran the 'Russian desk' so the dossier is unlikely to be false. He would also have taken legal advise before releasing it.. Trump appears only to be suing for breach of data protection, everything else he says is due to fear of public opinion and lack of funds rolling in from conservative red necks and the disenfranchised. The bible belt is a hot bed of hypocrisy but they balk at golden showers.

I thought Trump was both a] running low on money to deal with his myriad of legal cases, most of which involve him as the defendant, and b] running out of legitimate lawyers willing to work for him for obvious reasons.

 

But if his UK case does ever proceed, I'd sure be interested to read what the discovery documents pertinent to the allegations will show?  ????
