A whopping 535 mpox cases (formerly monkeypox) have been reported across Thailand between May last year and October this year, according to the figures released by the Department of Disease Control (DDC).

Dr Taweechai Wisanuyothin, the director of the Nakhon Ratchasima-based Region 9 Disease Control Office, disclosed the above data.

A total of 481 reported cases were Thai citizens, 50 individuals were of foreign origin, and four cases where the nationality was not disclosed. One casualty has been reported within the total cases.

Bangkok recorded the highest number of cases, with a tally of 313, followed by Chon Buri with 57 cases, Nonthaburi with 30, and Phuket reporting 26 cases.

The current population of Thailand is 71,828,356 as of Thursday, October 26, 2023, based on Worldometer elaboration of the latest United Nations data.

So a "whopping" 535 divided by 71828356 equals:  0.000745% <--- your "whopping" chance of contracting the disease.  (Let's not even discuss the demographics of those contracting the disease, although it is a valid point of inquiry).
Or put another way, a "whopping" 1 out of 134258 people in Thailand will be 'struck down' by monkey pox.
Based on what I read, 1 out of 71,828,356 will die.

Now, compare that to the 21,000 to 24,000 people who get killed on Thai roads every year.  🤔

"Be afraid.  Be very afraid!"  <not>

Sounds like the gay knocking shops in Bangkok must outnumber the pattaya ones by 6-1 then !

Why?

There's no comparison.

No matter wheather straight, gay, bi or whatever...definately time to stay away from the soapys and other intimate therapies,  amazing Thailand has to offer.

All depends on the person. If one is part of the "Never happens to me" gang, then no need to change. For the more sensible, no need to panic, but practice the basics to avoid catching the virus. Skin contact mainly.

That was fast ... thank you patient -0- for your contribution

Damn filthy foreigners 🤣

Let's have a gay pride celebration and drive it up to 500K cases a year.
