Police arrested four foreigners from the Middle East yesterday for stealing gold necklaces worth nearly 300,000 baht from the Aurora gold shop in the Pantip Plaza shopping centre in Nonthaburi province near Bangkok.

 

According to officers at Rattanatibate Police Station, the four foreigners were family members and worked together to distract gold shop staff and steal the valuable items. The theft took place on October 21 and officers managed to arrest the four foreign thieves yesterday, Thursday, October 26.

 

The four suspects were seen on the mall’s security camera entering the gold shop. Staff revealed that the group pretended to be potential customers with an interest in gold necklaces and asked to see several types of gold necklaces. Staff showed the men the gold by placing them on the counter and allowing them to hold and try on the accessories.

Expect to see a rise in these types of crimes with Thailand's new visa rules and their quest for attracting supposed "quality" tourists.  They just dont see the bigger picture and think its very clever sucking up to the leaders of certain nations!

Some place now look like Bangladesh in thailand, i went in patong this year, it had been 10 years since I went to phuket, now soi sensaibai only restaurant india, unbelievable to see how this street has changed !

Not everybody Middle Eastern people are rich. 

Middle East or India / Pakistan? I have never known a Middle Eastern national steal, they get a lot of cash from their country.

As soon as the headlines mention Foreigners you know its Middle Eastern.

The wealthy six GCC nations alone don't constitute the 'Middle East'. Yemen, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, etc. are all part of the Middle East.

Agreed they dont but most of the Arab countries take care of their own even if it is to keep them quiet so they stay in power.
