Popular Post Goat
Good morning. When I think of successful expats who have really made it here in Thailand, three people come to mind. 1) Bill Heinecke Heinecke had his first hotel venture in 1978, the Royal Garden Resort in Pattaya. His business ventures have included advertising agencies and other hotels in Bangkok, Hua Hin, Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Chiang Rai, as well as outside of Thailand. He also introduced American-style fast foods to Thailand in the late 1970s and 1980s – brands like Mister Donut, The Pizza Company, and Burger King. Heinecke naturalized as a Thai citizen in 1991, renouncing United States citizenship in the process. He was the president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand, and sat on the Prime Minister’s Foreign Investment Advisory Council. He is a supporter of the Thai Elephant Conservation Centre, and authored The Entrepreneur, which has been translated into a number of languages. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Heinecke 2) Harald Link Harald Link (born 12 January 1955) is a Thai-German businessman, industrialist, and philanthropist. He is the chairman, CEO, and owner of B.Grimm of Bangkok, Thailand. As of 2020, his net worth is estimated to be US$3.3 billion. In 2020, Harald Link was ranked No. 12 in Thailand and No. 945 globally on the Forbes list of the world's billionaires. 3) Dan Cheeseman Owns a condo in Pattaya,Inspire and Dans Dating/ Thai FarangMatch https://dating.danaboutthailand.com/ Here are Dan's 10 rules for business success in Thailand. If you can not open the link then here is a brief summary. 1.Dont listen to your Pattaya bargirl's financial advice. 2.Dont waste too much time in Beer Bars 3.Find a hobby and dont believe what you here in the bars. 4.Be smart like Dan is. 5. Listen to pocasts 6.Buy a Pattaya condo for 2.5 million baht for an income of 15,000 baht per month (minus expenses) 7.Keep a property in the UK if this advice doesnt work so you wont be homeless on return 8.Find a trusted Thai person to set up a bank account for you 9.Dont get a Pattaya prostitute for a girlfriend 10.Dont open a beer bar/ be a pimp, you wont get enough sleep. Top advice all of that. BIll and Harald take note. https://fb.watch/n_SGFPrD2_/?mibextid=2Rb1fB For what its worth here are the Goat's top 5 1 Learn to speak and read Thai so you can actually converse with the 95% of Thais who can not speak English. 2. Get a good reasonably priced and recommended lawyer. 3. Its better if your lawyer's office also does accounting. Many do. 4. Get to know and socialise with your Pooyai baan, Gamnan, Local government officials and do something for your local community. 5. Get to know and socialise with other successful Thai business people. 6. Be wary of taking advice from unnsuccessful "floggers/vloggers" *You will have to do 1. before you can do 4. and 5. 3 1 1

Well, there will always be detractors of successful people. And a lot of jealousy. Surrounding yourself with successful people is a good thing. You can learn a lot from them

No problem with number 3 at all. But it's absurd to put him in the same category as Heinecke and Link. The former two are $ billionaires for a start and extremely well connected. 1
Jack Cook
The best way is to (pre 2024) bring your wealth with you. Once here and settled trust NOBODY. It’s Lhailand, nice place but over flowing with liars cheats rogues and thieves. Both Thai’s and expats are just as bad. The chances of creating a successful business here are akin to a successful marriage with a long time bar girl. Almost none 😁
