NIGHT entertainment venue operators expect the extended closure to 4 a.m. in certain areas of four provinces, namely Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Chonburi, from Dec. 15 onwards as announced by Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin will greatly increase revenue during the New Year holidays, Matichon newspaper.

In a survey of these operators conducted by this newspaper it was found that most of the respondents are certain this pilot project will boost revenue in all dimensions by minimum 30% or around 2 to 3 billion baht during the upcoming festive season,

With this step expected to draw more tourists to the country, the respondents foresee economic activity doubling in the New Year.

Here in Hua Hin we have to make do with the karaoke area which seems to close sometime around 7 or 8 in the morning.

I was told by someone that they close at that time because it backs onto some commercial premesis that opens early 🤣

Many of these venue were illegally staying  open well past the 2am closing time... how will a 4am close time boost revenue by 30% ?

Not according to what other members here was told by bar owners already.

They didn't expect increased earnings due to 4am closing.

Except weekends, bar owners expect to close earlier than 4am, due to lack of customers.

Tourists has a budget, and they can only drink so much alcohol before they had enough.

Just propaganda, to justify later closing time.

In their dreams

Since it has now been announced that alcohol sales will not be allowed after 2am that seems unlikely!

🤣🤣🤣

If ICE is legalized in Thailand and allowed to be sold in those night venues, it will boost revenue even more! Just sarcastic 🙂

Don't count your chicken ..... just yet.

Sweetheart Anutin made it crystal clear, extended opening hours does not imply the sale of alcohol so get ready to stock up on kiddies syrup and Fitné tea to keep the sober customers coming and staying until 4am.

You can do such silly things possibly with the local yocals but a tourist, who should spend is hard earned hard currency is definitely old and mature enough to decide if and when too much is too much. Contrary to popular belief and steady hammering by the government - Thailand is not (yet) the centre of the universe 😉

Now just wait until they find out they can't sell alcohol until 4 a.m. and see what they have to say.

"Greatly boost revenue" for whom?

Probably only the BIB.

Who’s going to sit there with no alcohol served after 2:00am

So the way it works is that alcohol sales stops at 2am.

The local gendarme is slobbering at the mouth already

Yeah, I'm sure all the ladies are going to be hanging around the bar between 2am and 4am to make up for the non serving of alcohol and keep the customer(s) amused.

The novelty will wear off into the New Year (for bar owners) which will leave just a few that will stay open, those few will have to stock up on their supplies of empty brown envelopes.

Hospital revenue will increase 30% probably.  It will all make great  entertaining reading  the next day.

I be safe  at home waiting on  morning  news of road deaths and accidental falls from the balconies  of condos.

30% revenue increase what a joke.About 80 % people in Thailand  asleep.  If you said 1% of people awake were in an entertainment venue which is unlikely.

Would seem the only people who would have a chance of making a 30% increase on the days trading would  be prostitutes. Mind you they would look 30% better to bar flies after 2am.🤣

How?

(with no alcohol sales, although I believe that restriciton will be lifted based on entertainment operator's contributions to various organizations)

Are they going to allow gambling from 02:00 to 04:00?
