Crime Teen Arrested After Pathum Thani Roadside Shooting
Photo via Ejan A teenager has been arrested following a dramatic shooting in Pathum Thani that left a 15-year-old girl critically injured. The incident, which unfolded on Friday afternoon, has shaken the local community and highlighted concerns over youth violence. Police from Kukot Station responded to the shooting around 4:30 PM on August 22, in the Lat Sawai sub-district of Lam Luk Ka. The victim had already been rushed to the hospital by the time officers arrived, battling a severe gunshot wound to the neck. Eyewitness accounts, coupled with forensic evidence from a .38 calibre bullet shell, suggest the girl was shot while riding as a passenger on a motorcycle driven by her male friend. The shocking randomness of the attack drew immediate police attention. Authorities acting swiftly, used CCTV footage to identify and locate the suspect, a 16-year-old known only as Kong. He was apprehended later that evening in Pattaya, having retreated there in panic to his mother's location. Police also seized the motorcycle used in the incident. According to police reports, a heated encounter on the road had escalated into violence. Kong admitted to becoming enraged after a provocative exchange of gestures with the victim's male companion while on their motorbikes. This minor conflict spiralled into a more serious confrontation as Kong armed himself and ambushed the group. In a startling confession, Kong revealed he had discarded the firearm in a nearby canal before making his way to Pattaya. His actions, following a fraught history of theft and a recent release from a detention facility, suggest a troubling pattern of behaviour. The police, while awaiting further updates on the girl's medical condition, are keen on understanding the motivation behind the attack. Initial investigations underline the unpredictability and potential dangers of road rage, especially when involving firearms. In response to the incident, local authorities are being urged to address juvenile crime with renewed vigour. The case underscores the necessity of early intervention and the importance of fostering awareness about conflict resolution among young people. The Pathum Thani shooting has left the community on edge, as residents come to terms with the unpredictable nature of such violence. With the suspect detained and investigations underway, attention now turns to the victim’s recovery, and the hope that justice will be duly served. As details emerge, the incident continues to provoke questions about youth delinquency and public safety. For many, it serves as a grim reminder of the volatility that can arise from seemingly minor disagreements, and the devastating impact such incidents can have on lives and communities. The outcome of this case could potentially shape future policies on juvenile crime and firearm control, as authorities seek both justice and preventative measures to avoid similar tragedies.
