The Move Forward party decided today to expel Bangkok MP Chaiyamparwaan from the party after he was found, by the party’s disciplinary committee, to have committed an act of sexual harassment against three party volunteers.

Party leader Chaithawat Tulathon said the party’s executive committee and MPs met today in Rayong province to consider whether Chaiyamparwaan Manpianjit should be sacked, after he failed to comply with the party’s requirement that he offer an apology to the public and an apology and compensation to the victims.

He said the meeting agreed unanimously that the MP had not been sincere in his apology last week and, instead, disclosed information about his relationship with one of the victims, in defiance of the resolution of the executive committee.

Both sacked MPs will have to register with new parties within 30 days of their expulsion to retain their parliamentary statuses.

That bit of Parliamentary procedure is quite telling...

Was reading the previous article when he was telling about the relationships and the proof he submitted to this committee. He gave them all of his chat history with those women. Requests by the women to use their photo in the chats. He does apologize to one woman though, touching her inappropriately, but this is Thailand and that could easily mean touching her arm or shoulder or back the way a foreigner does to aid, guide or introduce someone. It does not necessarily mean in a sexual way.

I am inclined to think the only real reason they canned him was to make a show they had the power. He did not want to be left hung out to dry with those types of accusations hanging over his shoulder and sought to prove his innocence instead which is exactly what this committee did not want him to do.

I hope for his sake that he can find another party soon.

I doubt many political parties would be so strict. Good on them.

Seems like this is the only news MFP makes these days. Do they ever do anything else? They are becoming utterly useless. Whatever momentum they had is being sucked away by this intra party feuding, bickering, and more pure than thou witch hunting.
