A young man was taken aback when he was charged 300 baht for a plate of stir-fried noodles at a restaurant in Don Mueang. The page Sai Mai Tong Rot (Sai Mai Must Survive) posted a clip of the incident, showing the customer arguing about the high price of the dish. The restaurant justified the cost by stating they used three packets of instant noodles, each costing 12 baht.

The video showcases a heated exchange between the customer and the restaurant. The customer questioned the hefty price, insisting that each packet of noodles cost only 5 baht. The restaurant replied, stating that each packet costs them 12 baht. The customer continued to express disbelief at the 300 baht price for three packets of noodles, asking repeatedly where the high cost was coming from, reported KhaoSod.

“A young man exclaims in surprise! His bill reveals a stir-fried noodle dish for 300 baht a plate. He questions why it’s so expensive! … The restaurant replies that it’s because they use 3 packets!”

This occurred at a well-known restaurant on the banks of the Khong in Don Mueang.

Typo (should be khlong) and I'm fairly sure there's no khlong in the airport. I've had a few beers there pre and post flights but not that many I've seen a khlong.

It is NOT the airport.

On this forum, some people write BKK (IATA code for Suvarnabhumi airport) but mean the city of Bangkok.

Here we have someone who reads Don Mueang, the name of one of the 50 districts of Bangkok, and thinks it is Don Mueang airport (IATA code DMK)

Can happen easily.

Yes, it says instant noodles.

No, it does not say the most popular brand of instant noodles.

So 36 baht of instant noodles, an egg or two, and some spices. So roughly 240 baht net profit on a 300 baht dish.

Guess I'm gonna open a noodle shop

Good idea. If you do open a noodle shop, how much, icluding VAT, will you charge for the dish depicted in the news article?

I thought I made that clear already.

That dish cost, according to the noodle shop owner, 36 baht in noodles, and add another 24 baht for an egg and some spices.

Selling that at 300 baht should buy me a nice Benz by the end of the first year

I see your estimate of the cost of the inredients of the dish: noodles 36 Baht, egg and some spices 24 Baht, total 60 Baht. However, I see no mention of what price you put on your menu if you opened a restaurant of your own, and I am genuinely interested in what that price would be.

Go waste someone else time if you can't read or are looking for an argument.

Welcome to my list

Then there's the rent money, utility costs and wages and taxes and they need to make a profit , but 300 Baht is excessive

Don't be so fricking pedantic, mama tends to be the the genetic name for all instant noodles.

It is a very high price for a plate of noddles even for a proper restaurant, it must have been an error on the part of the seller, as there's no explanations why it should cost that much..

I couldn't eat 3 packets of noodles anyway,

I'm afraid you forgot rent, utilities, staff and, eventually, brown envelopes.

I don't even know where to begin with this one... If you actually had read the replies, you would be well aware that the incident did not take place at the airport.

Dun Muang is not an airport. Don Muang is a district.

If you're going to call people ignorant you really need to be 100% sure of the facts unless you want to end up looking a bit silly.

Oh, just tuned in to this thread.

I was going to post something deep and meaningful, but the cat coughed up a furball. I'm busy now.😄😄

Yes you are right. Bulk packets of noodles are available at any market and per packet are cheaper than Mama packets as there are no flavouring saches or packaging. Having said this as with many things Thais use a brand name for a geniric noun i.e. mama is generally used for noodles no matter what brand.
