Deputy Public Health Minister Santi Promphat wants to increase the birth rate in Thailand, by encouraging Thai couples to have children and by making it easier for them to get access to assisted-reproductive services.

 

Deputy government spokesperson Kaenika Oonchit said today that the deputy public health minister led senior ministerial officials on a visit to the Health Department, during which he briefed departmental officials on a number of key matters, one of which was the encouragement of married couples to have children and increase the birth rate in Thailand.

 

Santi reportedly told the officials that he wants to see an increasing birth rate added to the national agenda and work is under way to amend regulations which currently make it difficult for women to access assisted-reproductive services or technology.

Maybe the Thai population have done the math & decided it would be a bad idea financially to have children, the cost of raising a family is off the charts & can only get worse.

If you look at the curves birth rates are falling all over the world, except in Africa, the forlorn continent. Falling in China, Thailand, Japan, etc. Some are predicting China's population to fall to 650 million within 50 years, the crisis is that bad.

 

I don't call it a crisis. I think it's a huge blessing for all of humanity. The last thing this world needs is an expanding population. Sure it's going to bring a lot of challenges, you're going to see shrinking gdp's, but that's not such a big deal. Overall the benefits to the planet are enormous.

 

These days people have a choice, they don't have to have children like in centuries gone by, many people such as myself are asking why on earth would I want to bring a child into today's world? 

 

We report on China whose birth rate in the last year has fallen to the lowest level on record while American research shows more adults who do not already have children are saying they are unlikely to ever have them. Hooray!!!

Japan's population is projected to fall from a peak of 128 million in 2017 to less than 53 million by the end of the century.

 

Italy is expected to see an equally dramatic population crash from 61 million to 28 million over the same timeframe.

 

They are two of 23 countries - which also include Spain, Portugal, Thailand and South Korea - expected to see their population more than halve. Hooray!!!

The ever decreasing birth rates around the world are probably the biggest threat to the survival of humanity. Eventually the despots that rule us will realise their fiefs are declining and the serfs are not reproducing themselves.

 

The dystopian solution is obvious - enforced birth rate targets and eventually, enforced pregnancy. The government will seize your daughter and turn her into a breeding sow for 20 years.

That is a world & government problem, why should families who cannot afford to have children be coerced into having a family they cannot support?

Not just the math.  How many grandparents are happy to spend their final years raising their grandchildren? 

 

Kids are exhausting.  How fun is it for a woman to send a large portion of her income up to the village to support people she rarely even sees?  The whole model for poor and working class people is a mess, the world over.  

 

At least the Asians have the good sense to not import the third world and all of their ancient feuds.  If there's a societal collapse we foreigners will be hunted for sport.

Actually, he is just current with his information.  

 

Aside from a few sub Saharan countries the rest of the world's population is in varying, irreversible, states of decline.   There's a lot of information easily available if you're curious about the subject.  I certainly don't trust any of the models being bandied about these days, whether they be from the climate kooks or the lockdown freaks, but the population trends are hard numbers. 

 

Have you heard that the entire population of the world could live in Texas, with the population density of New York City?   The math is sound but the logistics wouldn't work out.

I am from the UK, we are heading towards the population density of Hong Kong... then aiming to emulate Gaza!

The issue isn't just declining population, it's more an issue of WHO is having children and who isn't.  We are already seeing immigration from countries with high population growth to countries with low population growth.  The future Europeans, Chinese, Japanese, etc., are now being born in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, Nigeria, etc. 

 

If they really want to address future problems, they should be planning how to educate and integrate the third-world immigrants who will replace the non-existent native-born future generations.
