The engine of an aircraft from Don Mueang carrying famed singer Unnop Thongborisut, better known as Por, exploded mid-flight, causing widespread panic among passengers.

The incident occurred as the aircraft was en route from Don Mueang Airport, with the safe landing achieved at the same airport. Por, one of the passengers, posted a clip on her Instagram story recounting the terrifying experience.

TikTok user @ben_benga, another passenger on the flight, uploaded a video of the captain and crew explaining the incident to the passengers. He stated that the flight had taken off from Don Mueang at 11.10am and landed back at the same airport at 12.05pm due to an issue with the right engine.

Passengers alerted the crew of sparks coming from the right engine, following which the engine was shut down. The captain declared that the flight could not continue and had to return to Don Mueang.

from the linked article...

As passengers began to feel ill, the captain conversed with the passengers who reported the sparks. Half of the passengers were vomiting, while others were fainting. Upon landing, everyone clapped and cheered in relief.

Sounds like it was a scary ride. Not sure if the vomiting and fainting were a result of smoke in the cabin or a result of fear.

Easy, if you are a regular flyer from DMK (like I was). Take a look at the uniform of the cabin stewardess alongside the flight officer - identical to these:

I will not name the airline but it may have "roaring" success!

Famous singer survived.

No report of smoke in the cabin, so probably a case of mass hysteria. I assume that the majority of passengers were Thai (certainly more than the half reported to have been reacting negatively to the situation), and Thais do have a history of that at schools or other group gatherings.

I'm a journalist and I've worked with the local variety. Not one of them would last a week in the real world.

Finally arrived at Chiang Rai with a little delay of 3 hours 29 minutes

(after changing plane)

Wonder how many passengers decided to call it a day back in DM though?

Probably half fainted inhaling the smell of vomit from the other half.

Indeed, never mind the dozens of other passengers. They were deemed unimportant!

Wow I learn something everyday birds can fly at 4-5 thousand feet or 1,219 meters as stated in the full story.

And of course, the plane was a scarebus, I mean, airbus.

Motion sickness - rough ride? But high anxiety can cause knots in one's stomach

The picture at the top of this post showing the blown engine is actually a picture of an Air France Airbus A380 and they have just cropped photo enough as to not show the Air France logo on the inside engine.E9AB17D5-8493-4625-AEAB-20ABA4D0AE6E.thumb.jpeg.4d4e303869c29e8053b74627076e8f04.jpeg
