Former prime minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has been appointed a member of the Privy Council, according to the Royal Gazette.

It said His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn has appointed Gen Prayut a privy councillor effective as of Thursday.

Gen Prayut, a former army commander-in-chief, came to power in a military coup in 2014 and served as prime minister until 2019 when he was re-elected to the top executive post following a general election.

Gen Prayut left office in August this year.

The real goal is to rise to head the Privy Council. Little formal publicly acknowledged power, but immense influence.

I have long thought that was his long term goal.

"Regency" is quite a palatable brandy...

As the Italians say "attenzione a non essere detronizzato" ;-)

And I thought he carried out Treason.

This pretty much accentuates how upside-down Thailand really is, and that things will never change here, sad.

Shouldn't surprise.

You'll be remembering as to where he comes from and the deeper long held relationships with a particular family.

No harm, actually.
