Described as an ‘important update’, the TAT is informing its customers of the ‘temporary suspension’ of e-ticketing for entry to all of Thailand’s national parks. Locally, that includes the Phi Phi islands, Similan Islands and Phang Nga Bay.

“From 1 December 2023, visitors planning to visit the following national parks – Khao Yai, Doi Inthanon, Erawan, Hat Nappharat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi, Mu Ko Similan and Ao Phang Nga – can purchase entry ticket at the park’s entrance.”

“According to the Department of National Parks Wildlife and Conservation, the e-ticketing system is being suspended for efficiency improvements.”

So they did not test the software properly. Users found bugs and they are now trying to fix it.

As to what those ‘efficiency improvements’ are? No details…

What was the "E-ticketing" system used for?

As apposed to paying on entry?

Maybe to stop sticky fingers.

Oops, someone has suddenly realised it is difficult to skimp off the usual "tea money" amount from e tickets, and the bosses will not be happy.

Probably taking a break to figure out exactly how much more than Thais the foreign goats will be willing to pay.

Maybe with the  e-ticketing they can't see who's booking Thai or Non Thai thus missing out on gauging the Non Thais.

They will Update the software so that one has to give the info/ID being Thai or  non Thai so that they can see who's the booking for.

It was so that the authorities could more easily limit the number of people visiting a park in a day to prevent overcrowding and/or harm to the environment.
