One of the court challenges to Donald Trump's eligibility to run for president in 2024 has finally struck gold.

The Colorado Supreme Court's ruling to disqualify the former president from the Republican Party's upcoming primary ballot is yet another unprecedented moment in US politics.

It's a decision that further blurs the lines between America's political and judicial systems, setting up a fresh collision between the election campaign and the courts.

However, this latest legal setback is unlikely to seriously damage Mr Trump's bid to return to the White House - and he is already using it to his political advantage.

The activists who brought the case in Colorado - a liberal watchdog group and collection of anti-Trump Republican and independent voters - may be celebrating their victory.

But the response so far by Democratic politicians - the ones who will stand before voters next year and are working to defeat Mr Trump at the ballot box - tells a different story.

 

This isn't a fight they want.

Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold - who had declined to act unilaterally to block Mr Trump from the state's primary - issued a response to the court's decision on Wednesday that didn't exactly drip with enthusiasm.

"This decision may be appealed," she said. "I will follow the court decision that is in place at the time of ballot certification."

Part of the reason for her seeming reluctance to weigh in - and the relative silence of other Democrats - is that the ultimate outlook for the Colorado challenge isn't bright.

The dems using the legal system to remove opponents was never going to be a big vote winner. 
 

this might come to bite the libs on the backside. They deserve it for going this route.

Whatever the political implication of the court's verdict, it is a right decision and demonstrates that the judicial system is still functioning and verdict applied the plain language of the constitition. The anti-constitution Maga cult is making all the noises for the audience of one.

It’s the 24% Republicans that approved the court verdict that will be the nightmare for Trump. He can’t risk Rep dissent if he hope to win. Independents have written him off. As legal woes mount, I can see Trump fatigue begin to get into the minds of Reps. If he think that announcing his candidacy early would influence his legal cases, he has greatly miscalculated.

The US is performing much better than many other wealthy nations when comparing economic growth and inflation rates.
The US had the highest GDP growth since the start of the pandemic among the G7 countries, an informal group of industrialized democracies.
This data further suggests the US is not heading toward a recession.

Trump will have less Republican support than any recent GOP nominee. The question is whether they will stay home, vote for a third party, or vote for Biden.

What does it mtater if the voters are rejecting bidenomics as a failure as shown in the many recent polls? They don't care about your web link, they care when they have to buy fuel, groceries, pay rent, etc, You are unable to see the issues for what they are & why your failed savior is failing and will continue to do so, or you simply refuse to ignore and reject ANY reference to Biden failures (which there are many as I sure you would agree). There are numerous polls showing voters prefer Trumps economy all day long over the failed Biden economy. You can't spin that and you cannot turn it into votes for Biden.
