5davidhen1
On Jomtien 2nd road, in the vicinity of Soi Wat Boon kanchana there appear to be a few eateries. Are they "authentic Thai?" --- or Western restaurants masquerading as Thai, in order to attract the many condo/hotel guests in that area? If they are in fact Thai, is anyone able to opine a recommendation? TIA.

dddave
That area is a very dense condo area with probably 10 foreigners for every Thai, mostly Russians so don't expect many cheap Thai places. "Coffee Be Original" on Soi Wat Boon has excellent Thai food as well as western at reasonable prices. There are several seafood restaurants just South of the traffic light that are OK and reasonably prices. I live close by and most casual Thai restaurants are found in side sois off Soi Wat Boon. If you care for good bratwurst, the German bar at the corner of Soi 10 and 2nd rd. is very good. Edited January 2 by dddave
JimTripper
If they have an "english or american breakfast" it's a fake thai place 🤣. Edited January 2 by JimTripper

digbeth
The 'Thai' restaurant that call themselves 'Thai Restaurant' or have Thai in their name that serve the typical Thai Food would probably be targeting the tourist Most Thai restaurant goer don't care for the word "Thai" in a restaurant, they'll be looking for cuisine specific like north-eastern, seafood or big garden venue with live music
