Tent in Thailand

Featured Replies

I would like to travel for two weeks sleeping in a tent.

Any restrictions for sleeping in a tent or is it possible to pitch the tent anywhere? (except private places obviously).

I have camped on beaches and on mountains.

No one cares.

You might find this web site useful. Wild camping in Thailand

Maybe no on cares, however, generally, wild camping is not allowed. Thus camping on private ground after getting permission from the owner is the safe bet. Many national parks offers camping in a tent.

There was a story not too long ago about someone in a tent on Patong beach.

Where? That makes a difference.

What do you intend to do about sewage and showering etc?

The sewage thing is why wild camping is not permitted in NZ. Too many people pooing all over the place- disgusting.

You really do try to make things as difficult for yourself as possible.

Your posts show problems with hotels checking in/bookings and money transfers, wise, moneygram, western union and you were scammed.

Try to keep life simple, if you not just really a troll.

I camp all the time. You kinda need to be in a rural area. I’ve not tried anything built up. The nice part is when you’re in a rural area everything is fair game, fires on the beach for example. You just watch out for the national parks where you of course can’t do anything, camping included.
Your biggest problem with camping isn’t going to be thai officials if you get in rural areas, it’s gonna be insects.

Beware of vermins and stray dogs🙏

It gets hot in a tent here most of the year round, unless you stay up in the mountains.

I've camped here for decades but 98% islands and within national marine parks.
