Thai TikTokers slammed a song by some Indian artists, calling it racist, sexist and insulting toward Thai men and women.

 

The Song, Bang Bang Bangkok, performed by Indian artists Ranina Reddy, Rita, and Devi Sri Prasad, serves as the movie soundtrack to the 2015 Indian rom-com Kumari 21F. Despite its release year, the song has just gained popularity on the TikTok application recently.

 

The main lyrics in question are…

“Same same but different. No money, no honey. Good boy go to heaven, bad boy go to Bangkok.”

 

Thai TikTok users flooded the comment section of videos featuring the song, expressing their dissatisfaction. They argued that the phrase “same same but different” ridicules the way Thai people speak English, possibly referencing interactions between Thai vendors and foreign customers discussing product variations.

 

The lyrics “no money, no honey” were interpreted as an offensive stereotype, suggesting Thai women only date foreigners for money. Some users even linked this to the context of sex work, particularly in tourist hotspots like Pattaya, which was featured as the background of the music video.

Is it not time locals took a good long look at themselves and come to terms with just how fragile they are? 

Such thin skin. So little self esteem. Real women and real men feel a verbal slight and it's like water off a ducks back. It means absolutely nothing, adults with the emotional development of 13-year-olds get very offended with something like that, as they have no self-esteem and  no self-worth, and the tiniest little thing offends them.

 

So silly. Thais love to make fun of people, Thais love to joke around, but when someone makes fun of them, how terrible. These netizens love playing the victim. How lame.

It is pretty funny, but the thing is it pokes fun at the bar girl scene while making it out to be all Thai women which is why the fickle Thai TikTok masses are pissed. Something like 0.1% of Indian blokes would ever get to meet a normal Thai lovely, who would never speak in such a manner. 
I’m all up for banning Indians because of this outrage lol. 😀

Doesn't even come close to the "Pattaya Pattaya" song by the recently deceased Lou Deprijck, released way earlier in about 2006.

Agreed.  Presumably all the girls 'dancing' were paid for mouthing their bang-bang words.  Thai Tik-Tokkers are so hypocritical.

I see the video was released in 2015. Perhaps the TikTokkers should have held their comments and deprived the issue of the oxygen of publicity. I agree with the comments about this being a thin-skinned culture.

I love Thai women, but then again I have an affectionate and caring wife who is not a money grubber....and I didn't meet her in Thailand, so she had some exposure to the world.  Obviously, I might feel different if I had little money and a Thai bar girl ripped me off. 

It must be a quiet day at the Thaiger today, low-hanging fruit.  You can say this about any video, always complainers.

Well, having been on dating sites for three years and longer, this doesn't seem too farfetched... A large percentage of freelancers, not only in Pattaya, but also Bangkok, and any place upcountry, 18 year-olds, grannies, and any age in between.

you give them too much credit saying emotional development of 13 year olds, more like 9 year olds

Over the years I have heard Thais make insulting remarks about Indians.

So if there is some truth in those remarks maybe the same applies to the lyrics etc in the  song!

The  are so racist and sexist themselves. The dont like  Blacks or Indians  they hate the Chinese  and are open about it. 

Thai men have  many giks and on TV its all based on Cheating, sex and violance. 

But dont say anything bad about them they wont like it. 

They remind me  of Americans they believe it's the best and only country in the world 🗺, which is funny as only 20 % of Thais have a passport 🛂 they dont know anything else.

And they do not like when you can understand their language because they are afraid you might understand they're mocking you all the time...

They have no problems on "profiting" from selling t-shirts with those sentences but, heaven forbid, don't you dare saying that those words truly reflect the way they think, act and speak...
