BANGKOK (NNT) - The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives is distributing agricultural land title deeds to 25,000 farmers across the country today (Jan 15), converting the "Sor Por Kor 4-01" documents, previously issued as permits for land use in reform areas, into official land titles.

This change is a key part of the government"s plan to improve land security and give farmers better rights to use their land. It aims to give the farming community more ownership and a steadier future.

The deeds allow for the transfer of land, either in whole or in part, between the Agricultural Land Reform Office (ALRO) and eligible farmers. This flexibility extends to using the land as collateral for loans or in judicial proceedings.

The new policy also allows farmers to augment their income by cultivating high-value crops and participating in the carbon credit market, ensuring their eligibility for government aid in infrastructure development, utilities, and disaster compensation.

Put the land title deed up as guarantee against future loans?

If this works out properly - ie not deflected by bureaucratic corruption, incompetence or dillydallying - it will make a big difference to my family here in deepest Isaan.

The main difference will be psychological: greater security produces greater confidence & enhances ability to plan a better future. Passivity & helplessness diminish.

Headed by the self-raising flour man.  A photograph of him tends to undo any feel-good sentiment emanating from this change.

Great. Sell the land to creditors, maybe buy a motorcycle for the 12 year old and rent the land from the former creditors, who will lend them more money when they can’t feed the family.

From what was shown on Thai TV yesterday, the deeds issued were Nor Sor Sahms (Green logo) and unlikley to be accepted as colateral.

What is that device Capt. Thamanat is standing next to?

It seems to be a thing here.

It's either a crystal ball or a lie-detector.  Only one is of use to senators.
