This is 2024.

You have to walk to the bank every day in your business suit? For what? You don't have any staff?

I suppose you have staff that can negotiate with the Bank Manager over Loan Extensions/Applications etc?

You are negotiating loan applications and extensions with the bank manager on a daily basis?

As proposed will it actually be for the full month of APRIL 2024 ?

The nonsense proposal has been buried quickly.

That's what I know.

The official three day holiday (13, 14, 15) starts on a Saturday this year.

Wouldn't be surprised if there is more than the announced April 16th (Tuesday) substitute.

Local rules / festivals and bank vs government holidays is a science of its own.

Well known Pattaya late party on 19(?).

Bangkok exodus and traffic night mare at least from 12 to 17.

Traffic is great in Bangkok over Songkran, except a couple spots.

The date was originally set by astrological calculations, but it is now fixed on 13 April. The festival may be extended if some of the celebrations fall over a weekend.

And a fixed Easter in UK would make more sense. And Ramadan.

As proposed

As proposed by whom?

I propose they do it only up country and not is the cities.

Yes, if there's one thing I can't stand, it a lot of young, attractive girls in wet cloths wanting to play.

That was "officially" in the news even here.

Too lazy to look up but quite sure from some tourism official.

And exactly not up country but as a circus to attract tourists.

Will they arrange water splashing/techno jumping events for tourists in the usual hotspots

Maybe I say the "news" and thought it's just a stupid joke.

I wonder how many businesses support such a move.

Some people walk in all soaking wet.

Many people don't come because they don't want to get wet.

For two or three days that is manageable. But for a whole month? Crazy!

don't care, because i won't be here, yeahhhhh! :cheesy:

Proposed by Paetongtarn Shinawatra, but "clarified" a few days later that she "meant a month of cultural events, concerts, decorations, markets, and festivals, leaving the current water celebration days the same in current provinces".

Do you really think the original intent was to shut the country down?

They celebrate Christmas for over a month here and it does not bother most rational people.

The "original intent" sounds like someone was thinking about this.

I don't think that happened. She just opened her mouth without involving any though process.
