13th, 14th, 15th and 16th are the official days for chucking water around.  There may be other cultural celebration/activities during the rest of the month.

It is usually a 10 celebration in Pattaya. 

Would not be surprised if they stretched it out longer this year.

The date was originally set by astrological calculations, but it is now fixed on 13 April. The festival may be extended if some of the celebrations fall over a weekend.

Totally agree! Same thing happened to me many times when I had to go to work during Songkran!

Absolute nonsense the whole thing!

In the past at least CM kept it to 3/4 days max and I could go and hide when not working.

There are only three days of holiday, everyone has to go back to work after that.

Songkhran usually lasts about 4 days in Chiang Rai. I either hole up in the condo, or travel by car.

I won't get on the scooter, too many idiots that think it's funny to throw chunks ice along with the water.

I said it would last 30 days as proposed. I did not say the country would shut down and everyone would get a month off and that there would be a month long water fight.

 

 

One day of Songkran is plenty enough. Enjoy the party and move on.
