THAI NETIZENS blasted a new sign put up at Sanam Luang ground forbidding sunbathing in public areas as it shows a photo of two foreign women doing so with a crossed circle over it with this deemed to be inappropriate, TV Channel 7 said today (Jan. 19).

The sign put up by Phra Nakhon district officials is in three languages, Thai, English and Chinese, and has graphic images of a person lying down, a bikini and a photo of the two foreign women sunbathing with red crossed circles over them forbidding these two activities and wearing the skimpy garment.

However the online uproar arose over the photo of the two foreign women which although their faces had been pixelated was thought to be inappropriate without getting permission from them to use it.

This TV Channel’s reporters questioned the district chief about this sign and he explained that in designing it the intention was to clearly convey a message to foreign tourists about what is forbidden so that they immediately understand because violation leads to a 500 baht fine.

Who are all these permanently outraged Thai netizens?

This week a female English tourist was sexually assaulted inside a temple here in Chanthaburi. Perhaps they could similarly install warning signs advising the risks of predatory old Thai men who lurk in temple grounds?

For the record, she has chosen not to make a police complaint, after all, what's the point? It would likely be seen as her fault for wearing a dress.

I finally saw a photo of these women. One was wearing a mid-length sports top and tight black shorts.

You can see dozens of women similarly attired in Benjakitti or Lumphini this morning.

Please netizens, we don't need convincing that you are lowly educated fools, we know that already!

Thai has just been sentenced to 50 years for having an opinion, no uproar noticed.

Yes, but you can compare N.Korea to Thailand, you're talking about a case where an opinion was about a taboo subject,

that by the way, the subject was happy to be like an ordinary person until it's got out of hand and it's back on again...

Xenophobic? Hardly. The netizens are carping on about the city fathers having not asked the foreign ladies permission to use their picture.

What's the Thai word for woke?

I think the parallel definition for outraged netizen is "I am somebody that does not have any sort of life whatsoever".

O for goodness sake why all this stupid fuss over nothing?

Relax, their faces are pixilated so what on earth is causing you apoplexy.

No need  getting your bikini bottoms all in a twist.

Outrage seems to be a form of entrainment for netizens.. or just virtue signaling... one thing for sure its contagious 🤣

I am concerned about the middle one of those "must not" signs.

It seems to be indicating that people must not wear bra or knickers.

And is it intended for monks or tourists.

Interesting that they consider young women sunbathing on the temple grounds almost akin to pornographic but displaying photos of young women sunbathing on the temple grounds is not. Pure hypocrisy. Did anyone ask the permission of the young ladies to use the photo in such a manner?

YES!!! Where is this place exactly. Just asking for a friend.

Uproar? Really? Because the two falangs were not asked for their permission to be in the poster? Give it a rest.

If the fine is only 500 baht then 'nasty perverted foreigners' might think it worth the price to be able to sunbathe. At least they aren't police selling drugs or drunk drivers or killing relatives over some triviality. Which culture do the outraged netizens prefer, I wonder.

Bummer

Got to cancel my plan to go up and have a snooze in bra and panties on some sunny day.

Its just typical of these 'officials' (Phra Nakhon district officials) they do not have a clue!

Amazing Thailand is never ceases to amaze?

These pickles and giardiniera are good.

I'd have thought watching K dramas was more than enough punishment.

So clearly, you can sunbath for 500 baht?

Yes. I beleive there is.

You are aware that the people complaining about the inappropriate sign are Thai, right?

But the fast majority of them stay out of the sun as much as possible, because the sun would make them "ugly".
