snoop1130 Posted February 1, 2024 Posted February 1, 2024 House Speaker Wan Muhamad Noor Matha said today that he is not sure yet whether the Constitutional Court’s ruling will bar parliament from debating the lèse majesté issue, as he is waiting for the full text of the court’s ruling. He said that parliament has a rule that MPs are barred from referring to outsiders or the monarchy during their debates in the parliament. They should not fall under the Thailand Penal Code that would involve the Executive Branch, ie., Ministry of Justice for enforcement. But I expect a majority vote of at least the House would be required for any alteration. If required by the full NLA, then include voting by the Senate. But at best such a vote would be on the record for every MP.
