Disabled man’s long tricycle journey to claim his disability allowance

A disabled made a long journey on a hand-operated tricycle, from his hometown in Sukhothai province to Bangkok, to claim his disability allowance from the Comptroller Department.

 

Monthon Petchsang, 48, a resident of Mae Sa sub-district, Si Satchanalai district, lost both legs in a fall from the sixth floor of a building in 2014.

 

He started his journey about three weeks ago and had covered a distance of about 400km when he arrived in Ang Thong province. He was spotted by a voluntary rescue unit on Sunday, as he was travelling along the Asian highway. He was given a lift to the Chaiyo police station at about 11pm to rest.

I hope he gets his allowance when he finally gets to 

the Comptroller Department. hope he has not got to do 

this every month , some of us don't know how lucky we

are ,

Hats off to his effort.

Im sure he has a correct claim.

No person with "mafia intentions" would have taken on that journey with same handicap.

Now thai government- pay up-or stand ashamed .....

Good for him, he’s already proved his resolve by surviving a fall from six floors, no mean feat. I hope he gets what he is due.

Oh, I'm sure that the head of the Comptroller Department has even now got his best, tightest uniform in the dry cleaners, the vinyl backdrop is being created and the table bouquets are on order from the florists ready for his opportunity to demonstrate his benevolence (before the cameras)  to an admiring nation as he presents the allowance to this chap. They are even building a ramp, so he can wheel himself up onto the stage when the happy event occurs. The ramp serves a dual purpose, it will give the happy recipient a good start for the first few metres of his journey home!

This has been on Thai TV all day, he certainly has made the news,hope he gets what he is entailed to, sounds more like Thai bureaucracy working .

One thing, Thai TV said, he was spotted n Ayutthaya, province, not Angthong  province. AN's AI working well again.

right on.

the things people have to do to get their point across.

when i read of things like this i can still picture the monks immolating themselves in protest of the vietnam war, or the atrocities in tibet.

 

thailand still has a long way to go in regards to social welfare.  

how many elderly here dont even have a pension? or receive a pitiful 500 bht a month.

How about solving his problem at the root of all this, Give him an ID CARD! Is that even going to be addressed? Still maybe safer on his Trike than a bus.
