Late credit card payment

Featured Replies

My wife has 2 credit cards that the was paying on time and in full for the last 10 years.

last month for the first time she paid one of those cards late by 2 weeks (stress). The amount owed was just over 2000b and it is now paid.

can late payments like this prevent you from getting a large loan in the near future, like buying a condo?

It will impact her credit rating, but a one-time slip in 10 years should not impact future loans / credits

It won't prevent you from getting a loan. But the conditions of that loan might vary depending on your credit rating.

Best to pay total balance by direct debit every month, avoids these mistakes

They make interest on late payments - they love it...

As the account went past due for less than 30 days there shouldn't be any drama at all, and a 2 week late payment can easily be explained as an oversight whilst traveling etc. given your wife's previous excellent ayment record.

A late payment history is noted in the National Credit Bureau records usually up to 24 months. If your wife's late payment was made before the end of the month, then this would be likely to show up on the NCB report under the Overdue Amount column.
