GOP delivers death blow to bipartisan border bill

There IS a process for doing something about the border. It starts with the Housing drafting a bill and passing it.

That's the part the Republicans won't do.

A child could see that the border is only an election issue for the Republicans.

IMO when it's Biden in contention anything legal is worth it if it leads to him being ousted in November.

It's such a crisis at the border that the Republicans are delaying action until 2025.

There are some inconvenient truths regarding the blowhard loser trump, especially with regard to the border:

-There were fewer border crossings under Obama than under trump

-More illegals were deported under Obama than under trump

-trump promised a wall along the entire border, paid for by Mexico

-For his first two years, trump had a Repub House and Senate, yet got nothing done, i.e., 100% trump's fault

-After 4 years, less than 5% of the border had a "wall", i.e., abject failure by trump

-Mexico paid not a single peso

-Even the tiny wall sections built under trump were repeatedly breached by migrants

-7 October along Gaza demonstrated how the most dangerous of border crossers (i.e., not the young mothers who walked with her 2 kids 1000 miles from Guatemala) can obviate any 4th Century-style wall

-The ONLY reason no border improvements are being done now is because trump's cult in the House is doing trump's bidding and wants the border to be an election issue

Bottom Line: trump failed while President and is blocking any solution now

Again I ask the democrats this... which so far none have answered... why is a $118,000,000,000.00 (yes that's billion) "auxiliary bill" needed when the federal government refuses to enforce the rules of immigration that are already on the books...

Yes, because who likes a booming economy, massive job increases, infrastructure being repaired, NATO rebuilt, and low prescription drug prices.

Let's bring back that trumpian American Carnage of increasing unemployment, exploding Federal Debt, Recession, epidemics gone wild...and let us not forget---the wondrous medical benefits of injecting disinfectant!

What Republican attempts are you referring to?  What bills have they proposed?

Build the wall... stopped by joe.

Enforce the current immigration laws... refused to do by joe

Why is an auxillary $118 billion dollar bill required... just enforce the laws already in existence.

Yet another claim without a shred of proof.

The NY-03 Special election focused on the border, and the Republican was thrashed.

The Border Patrol is catching a lot more illegals now than under the Trump administration.

But it was going to be built by the USA and paid for by Mexico? So what happened to that? Also of course that the wall never really did get underway with the fat orange man running things, and when he left office only odds and ends had been started.

Trump spouted his BS and the gullible cultists believed him.....again and again and again. The words of a song come to mind, "When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn".

But, hold on, perhaps to use Trumps words, "the poorly educated" whom he favours, are slow to learn, so perhaps there's a reason.

Laws without the resources to enforce them are useless.

Trump and his supporters are starving the border of needed funding because they want the border as an issue during the election.

How much of the wall was built by Trump?  How many immigrants did it stop?  How much was paid for by Mexico?

The border bill shot down by Trump supporters would have provided needed resources for better securing the border, which is why it was shot down.

The irony in all this blaming Biden is that illegal immigration correlates with the jobs on offer and with an overheated economy the US has plenty of jobs on offer. Biden's economy is booming. Just like Obama stopped the Bush falling knife at the beginning of his term, Biden reversed a decline ion unemployment. Dem presidents always do. Now the right wing want to blame Biden for the immigration problem. The overheated economy is one big reason that the billionaires really don't want to do anything concrete to stop it.

You refuse to answer the question... this isn't about trump... this is about what is happening now.

joe is letting them make it an issue by not enforcing the immigration laws already on the books... why are "emergency funds" needed?  Has joe created an emergency??!!

Biden vs. Trump on immigration and border security, in 12 charts - The Washington Post

"emergency funds" for an emergency that joe has created... there are plenty of funds allocated for border control but joe will not control the border... "Auxiliary" or "emergency" funding is a coverup by the dems

Your ignorance of very recent history is astounding.  There has been a surge of immigrants attempting to cross the border after Covid restrictions were lifted.  Are you blaming Biden for lifting Covid restrictions?

Your 12 charts do not address funding, but do verify what I stated:  There has been a surge of attempts by immigrants to cross the border after Covid restrictions were lifted.  That's why additional funding is needed.

Is that difficult for you to understand?

The surge is a direct result of joe not enforcing laws and immigration policies... is that so hard to understand?

It's not difficult to understand, it's just wrong.  You keep stating that as if it were a fact.  It isn't.

Is that the only argument you have; stating opinions as facts?  Have you tried looking for evidence?

Evidence... you mean like the border being overrun on a daily basis... resulting in millions of ILLEGAL immigrants.  What evidence would it take for you to admit that the border is in chaos?

7.2M illegals entered the US under Biden — that's greater than the population of 36 states

The end of the Covid restrictions resulted in a surge of crossing attempts.  The twelve chart source you like to use shows that is true.  Do you have any evidence it isn't?

Your claim is that Biden isn't enforcing existing laws.  You have provided no evidence of that.

The under-resourced Border Patrol is doing the best it can, and the Trump Republicans are doing all that they can to prevent the Border Patrol from getting the help it needs.  That is what the topic is about.

Post doesn't make sense. You say he reversed a decline in unemployment.  Unemployment was low in 2019 but went up due to the pandemic.

How can you lie straight in bed?

If the border were really a crisis, the House of Representatives would do something about it.

"This unprecedented surge in illegal immigration isn't an accident. It is the result of deliberate policy choices by the Biden administration," said Eric Ruark, Director of Research for Numbers USA, a nonprofit that advocates for immigration restrictions.
