Further Privileges Anticipated For ‘Untouchable’ Thaksin After Release On Parole

DE FACTO PHEU THAI BOSS-cum-convict at large Thaksin Shinawatra is expected to be given further privileges even after he has been released on parole later this month, according to a former lawmaker.

Ex-Democrat MP Thepthai Senapong today (Feb.8) posted on his Facebook page to say the authorities might probably allegedly look to sustain double-standard favours for the de facto Pheu Thai boss to the extent that no ankle bracelet be attached as otherwise enforced upon others on parole.

Thepthai was apparently referring to government officials dutifully taking care of the “sickly, untouchable” convict, ranging from those of the Corrections Department and Police Hospital to the Probation Department.

The billionaire, politically powerful Thaksin, speculated to be released on parole as soon as Feb.18, would likely return to his Chan Song  Lah residence without an ankle bracelet since he has been virtually treated as an “angel convict” by the authorities so far, Thepthai said.

How the rich live in Thailand.

No lese-majeste charge (it will be dropped) and no ankle bracelet, it's all coming right for Khun Thaksin.

Shxt flows downhill, justice does not climb to the top in Thailand.

I predict he will be free. And he will be told to be quiet. And obviously he will agree to anything as long as that brings him freedom.

And then, after days or weeks or worst-case months, he will open his mouth again, and again, and more of the same.

And then let's look what happens then.

I don't imagine that he will get away with a big mouth like in the past.

We will see.

I think that a lot of people will be thinking: "Thaksin has paid a lot of money to all the right people to receive special VIP treatment, so of course, he won't have to wear an ankle bracelet. That's part of the package. After all, how could he heal from his 165 life-threatening illnesses if he had to wear an ankle bracelet?"

Quite right, the question remains just what can be done?

The country seems to be in the hands of these crooks who wield all the power?

I would like to change one word in your last line.

"The country seems to be in the hands of these crooks who wield STOLE all the power?"

Oh no! So the conspiracy theorists are right yet again!

And Thaksin will be voting for Trump.

What's the point in being richer than a farang pensioner if one has to follow the hoi polloi? Wealth is power, power creates wealth. The trick now is to re-enter politics while looking sick. Tough one.

It's not out of the realm of possibility that his criminal record could be expunged or he be given special dispensation allowing him to hold political office. Same for his sister, Yingluck.

"Might, possibly, allegedly....."

This ex MP is covering his statement VERY carefully!😄

There is no escape from more news of the special treatment given to this convicted criminal by the authorities. I suppose 'rent a crowd' red shirts will be out to welcome his release.

The Thai people get humiliated left, right and center and do absolutely nothing.

Looking forward to things being put right again after the long tail of all the wretched corruption of the coup and it's makers.  Thaksin free and Yingluck free, making their  talents available once again for a better tomorrow in Thailand

Money talks this guy is a convicted criminal with VIP treatment he will

never ever spend one single day in prison i can only conclude that he is amongst the most powerful men in the  kingdom he’s untouchable

"...might probably allegedly..." That's a reverse triple double proviso with toe loop if ever I read one.

We live in a world that is devoted to serving the rich and privileged, while treating the rest of mankind like garbage. This is valid in all countries today, whether they are capitalist, fascist or name themself as communists, although they totally play by capitalist rules.

His plan worked out perfectly for him. He stole millions and millions of dollars and he was able to buy his freedom next to be his sister TIT.

It pays to be a friend of #1.  Nothing has surprised me, and shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.  Elite privileges extended the same, worldwide.

Many non elites get the same treatment.   You just don't read about it.  Some fair, some not.

He didn't steal millions, I don't think, but he did make million, billions.

Well it was certainly a better yesterday when they were democratically elected leaders.

Exactly the words I highlighted to copy. Thanks for posting ...

Amazing, given that the military and the ruling elite used to hate him..

And why not, as he was illegally removed in a military coup, as was Yingluck, on bogus trumped up charges.

"Tony for president"...😇
