His plan worked out perfectly for him. He stole millions and millions of dollars and he was able to buy his freedom next to be his sister TIT.

Do you have any proof that Thaksin allegedly stole millions and millions of dollars?

How the rich live in Thailand.

No lese-majeste charge (it will be dropped) and no ankle bracelet, it's all coming right for Khun Thaksin.

The AG announced just this week they where seeking add'l sec.112 charges (for comments he made in 2015)... And maybe he won't be changed ultimately, but it's all part of the established ruling class' plan to keep him in his place. Let him run free, but let him know he's not free to do as he pleases (politically). He's as hated and feared as he ever was (by the generals and royalist), his money simply allowed him to return to his homeland, nothing more.

Sad news.  What can i say about Thailand but please people wake up and change things.

I agree with you the money helped, but more than that he and his underlings, PT, had to agree to break their pre election promises and join the military backed parties.

That betrayal of the democratic aspirations of the Thai people is priceless for the elite.

But, as you said, they can keep him on a leash with rumblings of 112 charges.

Thailand has Thaksin, USA has Trump.

They are both rich, both in politics.

Just my observance.

DE FACTO PHEU THAI BOSS-cum-convict at large Thaksin Shinawatra is expected to be given further privileges even after he has been released on parole later this month, according to a former lawmaker.

Ex-Democrat MP Thepthai Senapong today (Feb.8) posted on his Facebook page to say the authorities might probably allegedly look to sustain double-standard favours for the de facto Pheu Thai boss to the extent that no ankle bracelet be attached as otherwise enforced upon others on parole.

Thepthai was apparently referring to government officials dutifully taking care of the “sickly, untouchable” convict, ranging from those of the Corrections Department and Police Hospital to the Probation Department.

The billionaire, politically powerful Thaksin, speculated to be released on parole as soon as Feb.18, would likely return to his Chan Song  Lah residence without an ankle bracelet since he has been virtually treated as an “angel convict” by the authorities so far, Thepthai said.

IMO all the talk about brown envelopes is nonsense. By now it should be clear to everyone that the military and the Courts follow orders from above. There is no amount of bribe money that could have guaranteed his return to Thailand, the reduction of his jail sentence, his helicopter transfer to a hospital ward within 24 hours, and his upcoming release on parole, without the consent of the highest authority.

Amazing, given that the military and the ruling elite used to hate him..

They were just jealous of his popularity and while he is no threat to their line of funding he will be accepted by the elites.

There are so many things that can't be discussed, and it's easy to omit where the real power lies in this place.

My money's on a miraculous complete recovery about 24 hours after 'release'.

The people of Esan will soon hang Thaksin calendars in their home's and pictures, might even place some incense and flowers eround his pictures, for good luck

We live in a world that is devoted to serving the rich and privileged, while treating the rest of mankind like garbage. This is valid in all countries today, whether they are capitalist, fascist or name themself as communists, although they totally play by capitalist rules.

Nice whataboutery, but it is far more prevalent here in Thailand.

You can’t change the fundamentals of what you are deep down, I’m afraid.

These traits are deep rooted in the local culture.

And the promoted Lakorn Shinawatra continues on.

As we have nothing else of real value to pursue.

😂😂😂😂😂

He was just granted Parole. Man they move fast

I think that a lot of people will be thinking: "Thaksin has paid a lot of money to all the right people to receive special VIP treatment, so of course, he won't have to wear an ankle bracelet. That's part of the package. After all, how could he heal from his 165 life-threatening illnesses if he had to wear an ankle bracelet?"

He did not even have to pay, if you see what I mean....

No. His 'special relation' allowed him to come back.

Nothing would surprise me when he is released and add his sister in the mix after. What ever happens after he knows and then thailand knows later. The only thing is how much has he paid and that will be never known

You seemed to forget Thaksin and his sister and also his brother in law were all democratically elected and then undemocratically ousted
