webfact
Phumtham Wechayachai, the Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister, has announced that next month’s cabinet meeting will focus on the parameters required for a constitutional amendment referendum. Phumtham, who is also the head of a panel examining the referendum requirements for the charter amendment, has stated that the report will be submitted to Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and the cabinet for review. In a recent meeting with coalition party leaders, Phumtham stated that there was an agreement on the panel’s key issues. These issues revolve around the uncertainty of how many referendums should be conducted during the charter amendment process, the question or questions to be posed during the referendum, and the procedures to undertake for a charter rewrite, reported Bangkok Post. The findings from these discussions will be presented to the Election Commission after the cabinet’s review. Phumtham also mentioned that parliament intends to appeal to the Constitutional Court for a ruling on the number of referendums required for the charter amendment. by Mitch Connor Photo courtesy of iStock Full story: The Thaiger 2024-02-16 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. ikke1959
No need to.. just make a total new constitution that can not be thrown away with a new coup. With a law that forbid coups in it. All problems solved at once.

With a law that forbid coups in it. All problems solved at once. How would that be enforced? The 2007 Constitution in effect forbid a coup as a method to legally change governments. Provisions stated in a constitution constitutes law. But in 2014 the NCPO coup simply abolished that constitution and apointed itself as the new government in compliance with a new constitution that it wrote. Replace the current one with the 2007 constitution and bring the coupmakers to court, instead of spending a lot of time and money to amendment one that is written by the coupmakers
