steven100
The only way an AN meeting place could work would require a boxing ring and gloves .... choose your AN member and then go for it ....

Heavy security would be required, From what I read on these forums most of the guys are quite rude and hostile on the keyboard, lots of warriors. I'm sure there'd be some casualties at a meeting. ⛑️ That seems to be a somewhat truncated conversation.

Next question how many would be interested in meeting for a coffee. Or.... Man you gotta a lot of hate on this one.I would meet some of the guys on here for coffee or beer but I'm in rural Thailand. 1
Jake72
I used to attend some of the Nana Plaza meetups with K. Sanuk and Stickman, good fun, but that was like 20+ years ago. Mostly just sexpats eating burgers and drinking beer while chatting about their time in Thailand.
Kinnock
There used to be a ThaiVisa bar just off lower Sukhumvit, and there were regular meet-ups. I went a couple of times, but without the common interest of say, a business meeting or a sports club or hobby gathering, the conversations are awkward. Just because you happen to be strangers in a strange land, doesn't mean you're friends.

But I certainly don't want to meet some others which are on my ignore list. I don't have any good experience with "big" groups of people. Like here in the forum, some would want to shine and control what is happening. The nice thing about this and other forums is that we can easily select what we want to see, and which comments we want to read. In real life it is not so easy to press that ignore button. 😉 You always could print out your ignore list, and attach it to your chest 1

Popular Post richard_smith237
There are a number of people on here that I’d meet for a beer… Those with whom I’ve verbally sparred from time to time, but who hold no grudges and deal with each thread on a new basis…. Liverpool Lou… I’d meet him & discuss insurance small print over a beer… Trans - I’d meet him and discuss N2 in tyres, over a beer of course… Neeranam - I’d meet him to argue the benefits of a pink ID, over a lot of Whisky… & plenty of others…. But there are also those who I’d definitely avoid and perhaps them I…. it’s easy to get into argumentative debates on these forums, but I imagine most would get along quite well in person. Then there are others such as Sheryl - who I’d bring flowers and say thanks for everything she does for this online community…. And plenty of others… Edited February 21 by richard_smith237 1 1 2
richard_smith237
& the GOM from the famed Grumpy old man thread… I went to Emporium for morning coffee at the Oriental Cafe for weeks, sitting in every chair in the hopes of a thrilling encounter !!! 🫣

bunnydrops
Locally, the guys get together every week for 4 or 5 bottles of beer each. Talk for hours about nothing and run a running joke. Meet them somewhere for a coffee, they have nothing at all to say.
quake
Sure for a laugh. but cant, I'm not in Bangkok. and the venue would need to serve alcohol as well as coffee. How about an afternoon on the slash down Soi 6 pattaya. just after Songkran, I will be in town any takers. ?

However, following the Emporium renovation and relocation of the Oriental Cafe I never saw him again. No doubt profound disappointment with the layout of the new Oriental Cafe. (Mr. Toad used to keep track of him almost like an obsession although he hasn't been seen on the forum for many years.) Just thinking the same.....although in their defense their reaction might stem from experiences of "meeting expats in bars"..........with one exception the ones I have met, I've left a beer on the bar and quietly slipped away.
