The ongoing conflict in Palestine has sparked a surge of activism and protest across the UK, with thousands taking to the streets to demand justice and peace. However, instead of heeding these calls for accountability and an immediate ceasefire, the British government appears to be siding with Israel and seeking to suppress dissent.

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), Europe's largest Palestine solidarity organization, has been at the forefront of these efforts, mobilizing support and organizing demonstrations to pressure politicians into action. Yet, as public pressure mounts, so too do attempts to silence and delegitimize these voices of dissent.

Recent proposals put forward by Lord Walney, known for his staunch support of Israel, seek to ban any contact between MPs or councillors and members of the PSC. This move, supported by politicians like Rishi Sunak, threatens to undermine the fundamental right to protest and shields Israel from accountability for its actions.

Israel's devastating military assault on Gaza has resulted in the deaths of over 30,000 Palestinians, with thousands more missing or presumed dead. The destruction of civilian infrastructure, including schools and hospitals, coupled with the denial of essential supplies, has left hundreds of thousands facing starvation. The International Court of Justice has found Israel's actions to be in violation of the genocide convention, yet British political leaders have failed to respond adequately.

The PSC has been instrumental in raising awareness about the root causes of the violence, highlighting Israel's decades-long military occupation and its system of oppression, which meets the legal definition of apartheid. Despite attempts to delegitimize their actions, the PSC's efforts have garnered widespread support, with membership numbers soaring and national trade unions affiliating with the organization.

Attempts to portray protesters as extremists are unfounded, with the Metropolitan Police confirming that the marches have been overwhelmingly peaceful. Moreover, the participation of Jewish protesters in these demonstrations, often overlooked by the media, underscores the diversity of voices calling for justice in Palestine.

In the face of these challenges, it is imperative that democratic freedoms are upheld, and voices of dissent are not silenced. Instead of stifling criticism, political leaders should be exerting maximum pressure on Israel to halt its assault and work towards a just and lasting peace in the region. As director of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Ben Jamal urges the government to prioritize human rights and democracy, rather than silencing those advocating for justice in Palestine.

^Written by Ben Jamal , who is Director of the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign, whose aim is to"  Together we can take on the might of governments, corporations, and the media - and we can win." , , where their topics are about genocide, Apartheid and boycotts , boycotting the company that makes Israel's football teams football shirts .

Extremely one sided and biased group who completely oppose Israel and where "Israel is committing genocide."

Seems there is a vast chasm between the British public and the government, led by that <deleted> Sunak.

Unfortunately it seems that Labour isn't leading the opposition to the Tories and their lapdog support of israel.

The next election is going to be interesting.
