Transfer of Reentry Permit stamp DMK

Recommended Posts

Recently obtained new passport.

Went to CW and had transfer of visa information etc.

The issue is the reentry permit has to be transferred where it was issued.

Can anyone advise where this would be done at DMK.

I have a Saigon to DMK inbound flight soon.

Don't think the immigration officer can do it at arrivals.

Yes I'm aware that I can just travel with both pp. Extension due Nov.

TIA.

When the Re-entry Permit in your old - now invalidated - passport was not stamped 'Used' (and thus still valid), I would presume that the border Immigration Officer on entry would honor it by stamping you in - in your new passport - till the Permission to stay date, which the Re-Entry Permit protected.  Because that's the 'normal process'.

The fact that you already had the relevant Visa-information transferred from your old to your new passport at CW (except for that Re-Entry permit) should not deter them from honoring that still valid Re-Entry Permit in your old passport.

When you would not have already done the stamp-transfer process at your Imm Office, and would enter Thailand with a 'blanc' new passport, the border Imm Officer without any doubt would simply stamp the protected Permission to stay in your new Passport.

But of course this is Thailand, so if you are dealing with a dim border-immigration officer you might have to ask for the officer in charge in case the border-immigration officer would just want to provide you with a 30-day Permission to stay stamp.

Thanks.

There is no worries traveling with  both pp. I will be stamped in according to my reentry permit.

I have done that previously. No issue.

If I was flying out of DMK I would just go to reentry permit desk immediately past immigration.

However my outbound flight is BKK.

I am surprised that someone like you are confused. Travel with both passports and they will then stamp you in according to your extension date in the new passport. I am assuming that you have a single re entry, therefore in this case it will be marked used. You then visit where you did your extension at your leisure to change stamp to new passport. If its a multi re entry just travel with 2 passports until your extension is due. Sounds like a non issue to me.

I have a multi reentry permit and extension is end of 2024. I'm well aware of traveling with both pp as I stated in OP......

"Yes I'm aware that I can just travel with both pp"

I have many trips out of Thailand this year and prefer presenting one pp to airline check in and immigration.

Never suggested it was an issue.

Clearly you don't know answer to my question

@DrJack54

Personally, I'd just present both passports for your upcoming journey, but when returning to DMK enquire at Immigration arrivals.
They can escort you through to departures and the desk issuing re-entry permits.

They may just advise you use both passports, which is a PITA, but TIT.

Where is he confused.
He knows he can travel on both passports, but as a frequent flyer would prefer to use a single passport,
However, he has no plans to depart at DMK, where the re-entry desk that issued his permit, is beyond Immigration and seeking a solution.

But it's a not an issue question isn't it? And no I do not know the answer. You sometimes give some good advice albeit with a questionable bedside manner. I don't know why you don't wish to do as I suggested, it's simple and certainly not worth a thread on here.

And no I do not know the answer

I return April 8 and will check at arrivals if I can have the stamp transferred.

After that trip I again depart out of DMK few weeks later.

I will then post for others my experience.

Then you will know the answer.
