Tattoos

I guess a big part if we like or don't like tattoos is our upbringing.

I don't remember anybody with a tattoo from when I was young.

I guess the first tattoo which I saw were from some bad guys in some prison movies. So after a while I guess I, and others, associate tattoos with bad guys.

Now I try to be open minded, but for my first impression tattoos certainly don't help.

There are some nice and smart people out there with tattoos. But IMHO they would all gain points by not having tattoos.

With the girls, a little rose on the shoulder or something like that is acceptable. More, if the relationship is short time. I am pretty sure I wouldn't want any long time relationship with a girl with too many or too big tattoos.

Point noted,

my perception is that she looks quite youthful and bright in the first photo.  In the second it appears that drugs may have found their way into her life.

BUT thats just a perception.  She could be the same youthful person who just wanted to get some ink done.

Staging and lighting come into play big time with those photos.  I'm sure if done professionally the second photo could have been more 'alluring'

To be fair that's the stereotypical view of him, watch a couple of documentaries about him and you may change your view. He has an incredible drive to do well and always encourages youngest to work hard and fulfill their potential. He's an ambassador for the sport.

Oh, he also took his turn in the queue to pay his respects to the late Queen when others used their status and pushed to the front.

You dont need to hold a degree to be clever or a role model. I'm just highlighting the poster's ignorance over tattoos and 'mutton heads'

Only 'mutton heads' would make statements like that.........

why is this subject coming up again? There's too many sanctimonious fuddy duddies in this forum who still expect the standards (with regards to tats) that we grew up with to still be applicable today. Those with tats usually get them for legitimate reasons. They no longer have the stigma that was generally applied back in the 50's & 60's, viz a gang member, a criminal etc.  In many countries it is cultural to get tattoos. Even Egyptian mummies have been found with tattoos on them.

So this bias by some people towards tats is just another example of discrimination. If you want to have tats good on you, if not good on you BUT keep your anti tat biased opinions to yourselves.

This OP and ALL future OP's that are anti tattoo should be blocked from comments.

because like so many others in this forum do, you need to have your stupidity repeatedly pointed out to you until you come to your senses, and STOP signing your name on your comments. We know who you are from your profile. You must be a very insecure individual.

Why I wonder do some people like to desecrate their bodies with tattoos? I can understand why some servicemen might want to have a tattoo showing their allegiance. But when I see males and females bodies plastered with what to me look like senseless scribble, I wonder what the attraction is. To me  seeing a girl with tattoos is a complete turn off and a repellent. If the males want to give the impression of hard men by having tattoos, there must be something lacking in their psyche. But then we can do what we like with our own bodies.

I don't need to "wonder" why you don't understand other peoples motivations.

That's all your post is .........another dreary old **** complaining that some other people don't see the world as he does, and peeved because they want to live differently to him.

Ten a penny on AN.

I know why you are like that......you are a miserable old ****.

That's all I need to know.

I have several tattoos. Last time I was in France, there was a guy who gave me a look that said exactly what you express in your last sentence. The mid-level manager type with the obligatory corporate attire. I couldn't help but smile at the guy. I probably make at least twice the money he does. Amusing.

And your third sentence works both ways, having tatts keeps these types at bay, the types who judge others on preconceived ideas, which I have never found to be particularly smart.

Yep, completely agree. I was actually chuckling at the last sentence thinking how inane it was. However, I have a sneaky suspicion the sentence was to wind people up!

I agree that tattoos on women are a big turn off.  Seeing older women with blurred tattoos on saggy skin is gross.  Tattoos on men are a useful indicator that the guy is a mutton-head and to be avoided. Guys with good jobs don't plaster themselves with tattoos.

When I was younger and being a good looking professional musician, I had no trouble attracting girls. But today?? Girls with tattoos are a complete turn off to me. How easy would it be now if I was younger, still good looking and wanting to find regular female company?

David Beckham is one of the biggest role models for young kids/footballers there is, and such a decent person. Is he a mutton head, doesn't have a good job?

Any guy covered in tattoos is a muttonhead, but I suppose a little tattooing is not to bad. Is David Beckham actually covered in tattoos? Arms, legs, body?

My brother was a tattooist in the UK. He was living very close to Mildenhall in Suffolk which has a US Air Force base. He specialised in cover ups. Constantly busy with Amercians coming in from the base to have dodgy tats covered over which they had inked in various parts of the world (very often when they had been out having a night on the turps). He could charge top dollar and made a very good living from it.

I am sure you know the concept. Lets say you meet a girl and she tells you she is into astrology. Maybe you think it's bs, then she loses points. Or you love astrology and she will gain points and you will live happily ever after.

Not that I have some real or imagined score for people. But obviously I like some more than others, etc. That's the principle.

Sure, everything is subjective. I was not sure whether you meant "score points" from your personal view or more in general.

She is French singer Alizée and 20 years separate these two pics, from 20 year-old to still good looking 40 year-old (her music is cr*p).

This is indeed an important point, a good tattoo on a good body looks great. And then on the opposite end of the spectrum you have Brittney Griner:
