Things are getting dark for shady farangs. Even with the new tax legislation, those who have "bought" their visa with the help of so-called agents due to lack of their own financial resources will run into big problems! Recipients of old-age pensions must present a confirmation from the respective consulate for the exact amount! I think there will be an exodus of farangs from this group alone!

consulates won't be doing that. The Revenue Dept will obtain the information directly from the banks and we will have to provide bank statements for the calendar year showing the incoming deposits when submitting a tax return.

Reason for Crackdown is to "enhance tourists safety" - repeated at nauseam on a daily basis.

The elephant in the room jeopardizing tourist's safety a lot more than any of the listed "crimes to be combatted" is not being addressed at all.

The daily carnage on Phuket's roads.

Increase of road death January to March 20, 2024: 42% with still 11 days until the end of March, compared with Jan. to March 2023.

And 6'388 injured and rushed to the hospitals (average of 80 every day).

Source: thairsc.com

It would require police to enforce road rules on everybody ......

including Thais.

Great opportunity for the local criminal gang to clean up some competition and take over their businesses without any questions asked.

Just wait until they realise how much they can make from seizing land and property owned in a nominee company name.

And why not, it's their country........:intheclub:

I wish they did the same for the Thai people.. Than it is justified because everybody has to follow the laws.. But now it are only the foreigners are being checked.. How many Thais are driving drunk, with no helmets or drivers licenses or under influence of drugs or smoke e cigarettes.. It surely seems that the Thais are superior and can do as they please, while others have to follow  the laws.. More Catholic than than the pope?

Don't be silly, it's their country, plus a Swiss farangy started this clean-up......:coffee1:

Genuinely don't know. but would there not be lawyers involved in the implementation of "nominee" persons/accounts?

If so. would they not also be guilty of mal-practice ?

Look here.

It would be nice to have the figures of Thai offenders, just so people can see if others  are just making a mountain out of a molehill.

Now jog on, you silly man.

Nigel, Nige, you are just making an excuse for naughty farangy's, but if you have only been in LOS five minutes, I may understand.....😉

As for "silly man", those who are cornered usually go down that route.......🤭

"Today, authorities raided and shut down a car rental company in Thalang District, discovering Thai nationals involved in money laundering," Wowwwww, Thai nationals being prosecuted. Now what will all the whiners claiming anti farang discrimination have to say about that?

You seem to have trouble reading. "Today, authorities raided and shut down a car rental company in Thalang District, discovering Thai nationals involved in money laundering," You can take night school courses in English and reading comprehension if need be, I recommend it. Meanwhile one thing for sure, Thais are superior to you because you're simply inferior to them, and to everyone else. The "crimes" you accuse them of happen everywhere, including YOUR home country. Quit whining or go back where you came from. It's not your country. Really. If you don't like it, leave.  We don't need hypocritical complainers, we don't want to hear it because most of us are quite happy here, we can accept the way things are because we're better off here no matter what the flaws may be.

Says someone with no brains otherwise he could discuss properly.. Thais in  Dubai, South Korea, Japan , Finland and many other countries are doing much better

funny again, why cack down on foreigners ANSWER= they have money>> why not locals as well ???

Oh, dear, perhaps the thought now is, thanks to Dave, all naughty folk should be tackled.

If you think it's about well-off farangy's, then why wasn't it done in the past....?

And don't say they are all paying under the table.........😂

It seems you and many others have a 'them versus us' issue.
