Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has made it clear that her team is moving full steam ahead in the case against former President Donald Trump and his co-defendants, despite legal challenges and distractions. Speaking at an Easter basket giveaway event in the Atlanta area, Willis asserted, "the train is coming," indicating her commitment to prosecuting the case.

Addressing concerns over potential delays caused by attempts to remove her from the case due to her romantic relationship with her lead prosecutor, Willis emphasized that her office remained focused and proactive throughout the process. Despite the legal hurdles, she expressed confidence in her team's ability to continue their work diligently.

However, the DA's office still faces obstacles, with Trump and his co-defendants granted the right to appeal the decision allowing Willis to remain as prosecutor. The case now awaits review by the Georgia Court of Appeals, adding further complexity to the legal proceedings.

Willis remains undeterred by the challenges, stating her intention to proceed with the trial, possibly requesting a trial date in August. She acknowledged the need to respect other trial schedules but affirmed her commitment to advancing the case.

Despite facing criticism and negative attention, particularly regarding her relationship with her former lead prosecutor, Willis expressed gratitude for the support she received from the community, particularly from women. She emphasized her dedication to serving the community and her refusal to be defined by external scrutiny.

Looking ahead, Willis stressed the importance of focusing on the facts and the law, leaving behind the drama surrounding the case. While expressing openness to plea deals, she asserted her readiness to uphold the principles of justice and fairness.

With four individuals already pleading guilty in the case, Willis remains steadfast in her pursuit of justice, vowing to fulfill her duty to the community with honor and diligence. As she continues to navigate the legal proceedings, Willis reaffirmed her commitment to serving the people and upholding the integrity of her office.

Although all of those who pleaded guilty were so charged, none of those pleas involved the RICO statute *.  And no guilty pleas since.

I am guessing an October date for the Georgia trial. Ending in December.

Maybe you should say 'dates' as in plural for remaining 15 defendants:

Fulton judge ‘very skeptical’ of trying all 19 Trump defendants together

07 SEP 2023

A Fulton County judge on Wednesday appeared highly skeptical of trying all 19 defendants together in the sprawling election interference case involving former President Donald Trump.

Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee posed tough questions to Fulton prosecutors, who argued that all of the defendants indicted on racketeering and 40 other charges last month should be tried at the same time, potentially as soon as the end of October (2023)

It may be beneficial to try some of the small fry in advance, get convictions, and then leverage the convictions into cooperation deals.

That would presume the scheduling of who would be in the first round would be up to the Prosecution.

I'm with Viva Frei in betting she's gone long before Trump goes on trial.

The legal pundits (not all Trump fans) think the judge wrote his ruling in a way that makes it almost impossible for the inevitable appellate ruling to come down in her favor.  He did it that way to keep her blood off of his hands for his re-election in a few months.

For the most concise summary I found, here's a video from Viva Frei:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BNje_AhXRg

Totally agree. She should concentrate on her own mounting issues. She's on thin ice and it's about to break.

I will change my response to this after reading the following:

March 20, 2024

For starters, McAfee has expressed skepticism that all the defendants can be tried at once. That likely would mean multiple trials, along with difficult decisions for the prosecution about which of the remaining 15 defendants should be tried together.
