Pattaya: Biker Crashes, Then Beaten by Pickup Driver in Road Rage Attack
Was my comment directed to you? Have I ever interact with you before? I only interact with you after I receive one of your pathetic, hostile comments. I always keep scrolling when I see your stupid postings. How about you mind your own business, you and your warrior keyboard find someone else to annoy. Try scrolling past comments without interacting with hostility, I understand that you are anonymous and feel like a tough guy behind the screen but it's childlike behaviour to send hostile comments to other members. -

Bangkok to Partially Open Nong Bon Water Drainage Tunnel as Rainy Season Approaches
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. Bangkok authorities have announced plans to partially open the Nong Bon water drainage tunnel as construction nears completion. With 96% of the project finished, the tunnel is expected to play a crucial role in mitigating floods in several districts during the upcoming rainy season. Speaking at Bangkok City Hall, Deputy Governor Wisanu Subsompon provided an update on the construction of the Nong Bon water drainage tunnel, which will channel floodwater from Nong Bon Lake into the Chao Phraya River. Construction progress has reached 96%, but the project faced delays due to subsidence near the Klong Kled water intake structure. To resolve the issue, engineers had to re-drill sections of the tunnel. Officials now expect construction to be completed by 2026, when the entire system will undergo final testing and cleaning, although sections of the tunnel will be operational this rainy season to help prevent flooding in key areas of Bangkok. The tunnel has already proven effective, having been partially used in 2024 to manage floodwaters. Once fully completed it will provide long-term flood prevention for Prawet, Bang Na, and Phra Khanong districts, as well as neighbouring areas. The project relies on Nong Bon Lake as a key water retention area, which will collect excess rainwater from surrounding canals before channelling it into the Chao Phraya River via Bang O Canal. Authorities remain confident that the tunnel will significantly reduce flood risks and improve water management across Bangkok. -- 2025-04-04 -

Thailand’s Earthquake Damage: 34 Buildings Deemed Unsafe After National Checks
LOSING FACE - There was an article on Khaosod English that in last half of 2024 the Bangkok Governor wanted ฿60M for an enquiry into highrise building practices, safety and conforming with regulations. He was defeated soundly in the parliament with one of the opposed making a speech that Bangkok was not prone to earthquakes. Strangely the article dissappeared as quickly as it appeared. -

Picture courtesy of Matichon. A male passenger was killed and a female passenger seriously injured after they were caught underneath a moving train while disembarking at a Bangkok Railway Station. According to reports, the incident occurred at 10:20 on 3 April, when Train No. 278 (Kabinteri to Bangkok) had arrived at Platform 6. While the train was being manoeuvred and shunted, to split the passenger carriages up, two passengers stepped off the moving third-class coach and were pulled under the train. Eyewitnesses described the male passenger as being dragged beneath the train, resulting in fatal injuries. The female passenger sustained serious injuries and was immediately transported to hospital by Poh Teck Tung Foundation emergency responders. The male passenger was later identified as Mr. Kawin Karaket, 43 years old, who was visually impaired. His daughter, Ms. Kawinthida Karaket, 18 years old, was injured Authorities are currently investigating the precise cause of the incident, including whether passenger misjudgment, train movement procedures, or platform safety measures played a role. -- 2025-04-04
