Phuket officials yesterday revealed their plans for the upcoming Songkran festival celebrations, with two major events scheduled to take place in Cherng Talay and Rawai. The Alive Beach On Cloud Songkran Music Festival is set to be held at the Blue Tree complex in Cherng Talay from April 13 to 15. On April 13, a merit-making ceremony and water festival will take place in Rawai.

These announcements were made at a press conference held at the Mixxmall in Rawai, overseen by the Phuket Governor, Sophon Suwannarat. Other attendees included representatives from the Phuket Provincial Culture Office, Phuket Immigration, the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Phuket office, the Mayor of Rawai, Superdots Events, Blue Tree Phuket, and Phuket Nine Co., Ltd, along with more than 70 members of the media.

Thanakorn Prateepsaensuk, Managing Director of Superdots Events, shared that the two-day music festival at Blue Tree will primarily take place at the water park. The complex is ready to receive local visitors and tourists from around the globe. A variety of international and Thai DJs are scheduled to perform.

The festival grounds will be divided into three main zones and six sub-zones, including a market village, a green area for nature lovers, and a beach zone with a bubble beach stage.

While all are welcome, access for those under 20 years old will be restricted to certain areas.

In Rawai, government officials and Phuket Nine, a private company, are collaborating to make the Songkran celebrations a success. A focus on Thai culture will be prevalent, with a merit-making ceremony, elders’ head-watering, and a sea turtle conservation project among the scheduled activities for the morning of April 13.

Rawayana water festival

A procession to bathe the Buddha statue in front of Mixxmall is planned before the onset of the Rawayana water festival at 1pm.

The Mayor of Rawai, Aroon Solos, assured that the event would be enjoyable for both locals and tourists. He shared that rice and dried food collected from the merit-making ceremony would be distributed as survival bags to impoverished communities in different parts of Phuket.

On the other hand, Surat Kanthanakit from Phuket Nine Company revealed future promotional events aimed at raising funds and donations for the needy. These include a merit ceremony, a local art event, and a mini-marathon scheduled for July, with the exact date yet to be confirmed.

Information on the Blue Tree event can be found on the Alive Beach On Cloud Songkran Music Festival Facebook page and Instagram handle @alive_beachoncloud. Tickets are now available for purchase.

All the Thai talent they have and they always serve up the same old pap, with a bit of dance music by the look of it. Ghastly line up!
