BANGKOK (NNT) - In Hat Yai district, Songkhla province, the demand for vibrant flower-patterned shirts was high. Stores displayed an extensive selection of new patterns and designs, with prices ranging from 100 to 250 baht. This year, the oversized “elephant” print shirts and pants are also among the favorites.

The scene was bustling with shops selling water guns and Songkran gear in the Hat Yai Municipal Fresh Market. Parents bought water guns for their children, and vendors stocked up to accommodate tourists.

Customers shopping for Songkran attire and accessories mentioned they were preparing for temple visits and reunions with elderly relatives in various provinces. They expressed their hopes for joy, satisfaction, and safe journeys for all Thais during the festival.

Meanwhile, in Phitsanulok province, festivities kicked off with government leaders, local executives, and officials participating in religious ceremonies at a temple to receive blessings. They also engaged in the traditional water pouring ceremony, a gesture of respect towards elders and a highlight of the Thai Songkran festival, recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

Just like every other year then

Indeed, and they only go nuts selling them this time of year too!

The shirt shops corner of Sam Sip Met and Sripoovanart are like a calendar
Christmas/New Year - Santa's little helper costumes
Chinese New Year - red shirts plus appropriate animal

Songkran - gaudy shirts

New School Year - white shirts

Halloween - scary outfits
Christmas/New Year - Santa's little helper costumes..................

If only the government had the 10K to hand-out profits would be higher.

I wear Hawaiian shirts all year.

Me too. I wonder where all the unsold shirts disappear to.... here today gone tomorrow. I'd be willing to buy even more if they give me a little discount...
